Top of bedroom chimney breast plaster is slightly damp

Ah ok, well the breast has a flue for upstairs and downstairs so I would have to figure out from outside the path of the flue to the bedroom and break in to the bricks there, ideally behind the upstairs fireplace.

Top of bedroom chimney breast plaster is slightly damp

There doesn't appear to be a vent. I previous owner probably a long time back must have removed the fireplace in the bedroom and sealed it up and removed the second pot from the chimney. I'd assumed this meant the whole flue to the original bedroom fireplace would have been sealed off so no...

Top of bedroom chimney breast plaster is slightly damp

Sorry when I said capped I probably used the wrong terminology. It's got a pot but there is a cover held on with wire which is 3 or 4 inches above the pot. The chemicals you mention drawing the damp through the breast is what next door was told about his so it could well be that. I think he...

Top of bedroom chimney breast plaster is slightly damp

Hi a couple of years ago I noticed that there was a bit of bubbling under the wallpaper and in a bit of the lath and plaster in ceiling just above on the top of the chimney breast in my front bedroom. At the time this was almost certainly from some leaking above in the chimney stack and the...

Bay Window Leak below bay poll but not sure where from

Hi basically who has ever installed the original pvc frame had drilled in the wrong places and water which should have been going elsewhere was going in to the holes. In the end I just replaced all my windows because I had to fix other issues to and decided getting some new ones rather than...

GRP roof rain dripping behind gutter

Just bought some from TP so I will give it a go over the next few days, thanks for the tips. The downpipe is in the corner of the L on the roof and is basically just straight down so I think the issue is that the gutter is a bit too small for when it's real heavy rain. Next time I'm going to get...

GRP roof rain dripping behind gutter

Yes the roof is at the back and side of the house (L shape around the house) and the main roof has two gutters also running on to it. Its about 35ft wide at the back, by about 7ft and the dog leg around the side is about 22ft by about 7ft. Yes I thought it needed more overhang. All the other...

    Outside boiler pipe guard

Hi I have a pipe coming out of my wall in to my alleyway which I think is to allow water to run off from the boiler. I'm a little worried I might break it when going up and down the alleyway. Any idea if there is some kind of metal guard available to cover something like it. I'm not even sure...

GRP roof rain dripping behind gutter

Hi, I had a flat grp roof done a few years back and its been fine, however I've had issues with the rain in places running over the edge and not in to the gutter but dripping behind it. Also when it is really heavy rain the gutter just can't take the flow. I've tried putting laying a roll of...

Extending fence concrete gravel boards (longer than 6ft)

Hi, I'm planning on fitting new fencing in my garden, concrete posts, concrete gravel boards and feather fencing. There is one spot which is a problem though because I have an old concrete base about 7ft across near the end of the garden with an air raid shelter under it. So the base is wider...

Amtico High Temp Adhesive Spec Question

Thanks for the response. So if the right adhesive is used then even though the heat from the pipes under the floor and also where they come out of the floor to go up to the rad is a fair bit higher than normal underfloor heating the tiles should stay put ? Amtico mention discolouration also so I...

Amtico High Temp Adhesive Spec Question

Hi there, I have a room with a concrete floor and one edge of the floor had a channel about 2" deep chiseled in to it to feed pipped for a new radiator. The pipes were wrapped before concreted over again however that area of flooring still gets fairly hot due to the boiler pumping 65c of water...

Amtico over mix of concrete and floor board with slight height difference

Hi, I've had an extension on the house and the rear lounge now had about 5ft extra on it which has a new concrete floor, there used to be a bay patio window there and that was removed, it was the typical U bay shape. So the original floor board are also in the bay type shape meeting the new...

Dulux water based satinwood over Johnstones oil based undercoat ?

Great thanks for that. I will give the UC a very light sand I think to remove any slight imperfections and then apply the WB top coat.
