Not sure of the exact position...likely to be near throttle body (where throttle cable attaches to inlet manifold). Usually held on by two screws with a plug with maybe three but usually four wires.

If the garage had replaced the rear discs/cables and the fault still existed then fair enough, but did you ask for possible causes and got possible answers? To publicly name the garage without the public being in full possession of the facts is out of order...

Are you able to keep it running by raising the RPM using the throttle? Yes indicates a possible problem with idle control system; No suggests ignition system or fuel delivery...

What car is it?

Probably is a clutch fault...form pressure plate upto clutch pedal. Is it hydraulic (leak)? Automatic adjusting mechanism faulty (Intermittant)? A garage would easily diagnose a dragging clutch or faulty operating system. Best of luck :)
