    Thanks John, After cleaning all the filters and getting it going yesterday morning it hasn't locked out again so for the time being I'll leave it alone and post any updates if things go pear shaped!

    The Oil level is well above the burner height...probably three feet higher but 25 yards away.

    The tank in the garden has a bottom outlet. The boiler and pump are a foot higher than the lowest part of the oil pipe coming from the garden to house and boiler. If anyone out there has fitted a new oil tank did you have to bleed the oil at the oil pump a few times over several days?

    Yes it is which is why I'm guessing the oil on comes out as a trickle from the pipe and only comes through properly when the pump is working.
