I’ve removed all loose bits and refilled cracks on the steps with mortar. They’re pretty solid. It’s just the underside of the top landing I’m concerned about. I’m thinking of removing all of the loose stuff and, so long as the block feels solid, doing a cosmetic repair to the area in the photos.

It sounds easier that rendering with something that may not be stable but I think I'd want to put some pins in rather than a straight bond. Is cement board stable enough to not crack around, say, 8mm masonry screws?

Hi Polesapart, isn't that solution going from 1/2" to 1/2"? Unless you're proposing that I come out of 3/4 down to 1/2 then back to 3/4. That would work but it'll subtract from the already weak pressure. I'm wondering if I'll get away with, ooer, a 3/4 inch straight male nipple!

I need to alter the centres on a new bath/shower mixer installation and the existing dog legs are 3/4" (pipework) to 1" (mixer). I want to go from 3/4" to 3/4" as that's the size of the new mixer inlets. I can't find any dog legs that aren't also reducers. Do equal ones exist?
