    Where to start!

I think then Doggit, maybe some councils are different to others? Or maybe if you build on the footprint of a demolished previous building, you still need DPP, but you are 'likely' to get it and the fact that there was a building there previously is the same as already having OPP? The house I...

    Where to start!

Sorry i think my ignorance is confusing things here... No I'm not thinking of city at all... I want a rural site. That's why I said rural 'brownfield'? plot. I think 'brownfield' normally means urban. What I mean is an old farm building (not a shed, but proper house) that needs demolishing. I've...

    Where to start!

CG... Oh? That's interesting, because I've been told by a few people now that if I can find an old derelict building I can use it's PP.

    Where to start!

That's a difficult one, but I think the design just wins, as I want to build an energy positive home, but I do want it in a rural setting. I have quite detailed and strong ideas about the design, not so much in terms of it's shape, but in terms of it's energy profile, efficient energy...

It would be a 'home' purely for personal use.

    Where to start!

Wow... thank you everyone. You are all saying pretty much what I was expecting. That's good and it's just what I needed to hear. People with experience and the benefit of hindsight can be so helpful to others starting out on a similar journey. As with most things in life, something that's...

    Where to start!

Quite right Doggit... I was 'waffling' but quite deliberately... I do have quite focused ideas about what I want, and the sort of place I want to build, but one of the things I don't want (right now) is people focusing directly on me & my unique and individual plans. Rather I want to find out...

    Where to start!

Hi all... I already asked a separate question about buying building plots, and got some really useful replies. So I have another question, which probably has many different answers! When a newcomer to building a property starts on this journey, is there any organisation that can help right...

    New Plot(s) for sale.

Cheers guys, that explains it all a bit more thanks... Plus I guess the council will be happier with multiple council tax rather than one! (Do I need to 'close' this thread?)

    New Plot(s) for sale.

Interesting.... GeoffJ - I should have said 'have got planning permission' most of the ones I've seen clearly state they have permission and what for. It's just that the option of one big plot doesn't seem to be there for people who love the area, love the plot, but don't want a (potential)...

    New Plot(s) for sale.

I'm always interested in the underlying reasoning for things, but often the simplest things don't seem obvious until you know the reason... so, if someone has a field for sale that can get basic planning permission, they usually obtain the permission and sell the land with the planning...
