    multifinish over multifinish, how soon?

Hi bobasd, I didn't do the dot n dab. Believe me, I wish I had ripped the thing off in the first place. Thanks for your help. Dave.

    multifinish over multifinish, how soon?

Hi, I scraped off the still wet scratch coat after I saw the cracks forming. I didn't take photos. It seems to be dot n dab plasterboard. When I first got to it, it was uneven and had patches of undercoat plaster. I levelled what I could with bonding plaster. Then I skimmed with multifinish...

    multifinish over multifinish, how soon?

Hi, I skimmed a wall but ended up with a slight bow into the wall which I think I can correct with another thin application of multifinish plaster. Essentially, it's not quite flat. I guess my preparation was insufficient. I left it two weeks, applied liberal amount of 2:1 PVA, let it dry...

    PVA before blue grit

Hi, Firstly, I'm 100% DIY so bare with me. I've been asked to skim some walls for a friend who's had a tough time. Long story. I've had skimming success before but I'm now out of my depth :) 1. I've put PVA on the painted walls. 2:1 ratio. I just couldn't scrape the paint off so hoped it...

    Flow and return mixed up

Yes. Is does to me. Personally, I think he has piped it up backwards, but I'm often too picky. I wouldn't have left it that way.

    Flow and return mixed up

I think they are bulldog 2. The installers took the boxes away. The technical guide for bulldog 2 doesn't mention setting to reverse. Good point about having a TRV in the corner. I guess I will just leave them to be consistent. Thanks everyone.

    Flow and return mixed up

Thanks ianmcd. I aim to swap out the old radiators at some point soon so I will switch the TRVs then, and add the filter to the return near the boiler.

    Concrete washing machine base

World's latest reply. Sorry Fran, I didn't get a notification. For the record and anyone who comes across this thread, I did do it. Added DPC as suggested. It certainly improved things, but I think I should have put the concrete up to floor level rather than including the chipboard on top. The...

    Flow and return mixed up

Hi, I'm not a plumber or tradesman. I've just had a new Ideal logic c30 combi boiler fitted that replaced a very old Baxi system boiler. TRVs were also fitted. I asked the installer which pipe was flow, and which was return (so that a magnetic filter could be added later). He said when looking...

    Concrete washing machine base

Hi, I did support under the joist with wood, not brick though. I made it as tight a fit as I could. Forgot to mention that. What ratio of sand/cement/ballast should I use? I'm no builder.. I've built bases for sheds, but that's my limit so far. Dave.

    Concrete washing machine base

Hi, Thanks for the responses, all very much appreciated. It does it on all washes, with varying intensity depending on the load and the current spin speed. It is level, I've checked and checked. There's room for a spirit level on top. Transport bolts definitely removed. I actually replaced my...

    Concrete washing machine base

Hi, I have a washing machine that bounces around. I've tried many ways to remove the bounce from the floor, but failed. I've given up on damping, supporting the floor, cross members for the joists, sistering the joists. I want to build a concrete platform for it to sit on. The room is an...
