    Viessman 100 Weather Compensating Sensor

Thanks for the link. Mine is the 100-W B1KC. It does heating & DHW. The price on the Viessman site is only a few quid more than Screwfix so may go direct.

    Viessman 100 Weather Compensating Sensor

Hi My 2017 Vitodens 100 is due a service and as part of it I want to get a weather compensation sensor fitted. I've checked in the installation book that it has the capability to have one connected and I'll leave the installation to the service engineer. Just wanted to check whether this option...

    bAck Market Refurbed iPhone

I've bought a couple of refurbed Samsung S9s from Back Market in Feb this year and they have both been excellent value. You would never know they were used. Spotless, no scratches or damage, long battery life ( 2days on standby ). I opted for the A1 condition ones and paid a bit more but...

    Used Double Glazing units?

Hi, I need to change 3no double glazed units in my conservatory - all blown and steamed up. Does anyone know of a company that supplies 2nd hand units? Thanks

    Dual Flush Toilet Problem

If the disc can be removed by taking out the screw, why not replace it with a steel washer or similar... or glue a suitable plastic/steel disc on top of the broken piece. Save you the hassle and cost of buying a whole new flush system.

No HETAS certificate for long burner installed in 2015

Get a quote from the HETAS Engineer to do the repairs and if necessary, agree with your buyer to reduce the cost of your house by that amount and they get the work done...or not.

2 Ceiling Lights, 1 Switch, 1 Bulb goes Pop

I've got my trusty voltage tester and am hoping to take a look this weekend. Recently swapped out a couple of nearly new pendants at my place for some downlighters so I'll take them with me as well. My money is on a loose connection and I'll post back with findings.

2 Ceiling Lights, 1 Switch, 1 Bulb goes Pop

My girlfriend recently moved into an old house that was previously an HMO. Apparently not long before she bought it, it was rewired by the owner as part of their landlord obligations. In the living room their are two pendant ceiling lights controlled from one wall switch. Both had old style...

    Paintable Sealant in Bathroom

I thought about using the grey sealant but would then i'd have a full grey line which almost has the same effect as a full white one. Alternating the two would also be a nightmare so the painted option came to mind. ( Probably a stupid idea but I do tend to over-think things. I'd never make any...

    Paintable Sealant in Bathroom

I'm looking for a paintable sealant to seal the internal corners of my shower cubicle. I've just finished the walls with white metro tiles and have used a dark grey grout to grout up the joints. I ran a bead of white silicone from top to bottom but it looked crap ( workmanship as much as...

Stripping Paint with a Gas Torch?

Thanks for the replies, Well, I took the brackets to work and put then in one of our industrial ovens. It's only set at 100°c but after a couple of hours the paint had softened enough to peel of reasonably easily. We used to use methylene chloride at work to strip the bitumen off asphalt...

Stripping Paint with a Gas Torch?

Hi, I've got a couple of cast iron sink brackets that need the paint stripping off. There looks to be probably 4 or 5 coats of lumpy white gloss that has been applied over the last 30 years or so. I've searched on this forum and discovered that liquid paint strippers, the likes of Nitromors...

    Plastering over Copper water pipe

Is the problem likely to be with the expansion of the pipe(s) causing cracks to the plaster or long term corrosion of the copper by the plaster? Once the wall is plastered, I'll be tiling over it.

    Plastering over Copper water pipe

Yes it's masonry. Might be a bit tight on cover for a duct but I'll see what I can do. Thanks

    Plastering over Copper water pipe

Hi, Is it safe to plaster directly over copper water pipes or should they be wrapped or protected somehow. I've got a couple running up a channel in my bathroom wall and will be getting the whole room re-plastered soon. Thanks

Smart Dumbell Sink Drain Waste Removal Tool

They're both well worn. A refurb of the the chrome would be an option I suppose but I'd need to find somewhere local to do it plus would be without a bath & sink for a day or two. Worth looking into though. Thanks

Removing Rads from a Combi system

I see, I assumed that that was what I should do. Should I just blank off each one until I'm ready to reconnect the rad once the bathroom is finished?

Removing Rads from a Combi system

Ah, yes, just checked again and they're in parallel. The pipework is a bit tight in the cupboard so not too easy to spot. What is the problem with connecting the flow and return pipes? It's the same circuit minus two rads.

Removing Rads from a Combi system

The pipework I'm working on is in the loft at it's highest point. Once the wall is removed and the bathroom is re-plastered & tiled, one of the rads will be going back in, albeit in a different location.
