    Plastic pipe help

How about if I were to replace everything above the tap, including the tee, is there a fitting that will go onto the top of the tap (a compression) that I could then continue with push fit fittings?

    Plastic pipe help

Hi all, cheers for all the replies, I would replace the whole thing if I was sure I could get a fitting that will fit the stopcock pictured earlier.

    Plastic pipe help

Hi, internal is 13mm so yes, as best to 1/2 inch as you'll get. External is 18mm. Picture of stopcock, comes from the meter up though the floor and splits at a tee. Don't want to take the pipe off there if I've nothing else to replace it with, as you can see there a wider bore pipe going off...

    Plastic pipe help

Hi all, We've got this black plastic pipe running round to the back garden from a very old stopcock. I want to connect to an outside tap. As you can see it is bigger than 15mm but smaller than 20mm. Is it an old imperial pipe and is there any way to convert it to 20mm or 25mm mdpe?

    Bricking up a fireplace

Well I've already started with brick so will carry on - got a bit of an obstacle going round a pipe but other than that, my only concern is the plasterer saying "Who the hell bricked this up????" :D

    Bricking up a fireplace

Ok - I'm having a go at this one on my own I reckon. Just need to know what sort of bricks I need to get - I'm assured that they don't need to be anything special as its going to be covered and that I must get an airbrick (although they appear to be a different size to the normal bricks) and...

    toilet overflow dripping

Hi Chaps - Our toilet overflow is dripping very slowly. On inspection inside the cistern, the ballcock (although it is up as far a it will go) is still letting a little drip more into the tank therefore the overflow is dripping also. So I know why its doing it - my question is, do i need a...

    Dyson DC07 Filters

hi - no blokages in the system as far as i can dismantle it... it runs fine with just the motor, fine with the hepa filter COVER (but no filter), cuts out if the filter is on.... BUT if i don't put the Hepa filter on but add the cyclone/bin, it still cuts out (which says to me its not the...

    Dyson DC07 Filters

Hi there - having a problem with my DC07 Animal. It's started cutting out after about 5 minutes - I'm guessing it is overheating and must have a safety switch. I've cleaned the filter on the side of the motor, but is there another one that I need to clean out??? - and if so can anyone...

    What are those switches for???

Hi all - quick decription for you. We have a combi boiler downsatairs and a cylinder with a stat on it upstairs - most rads have TRVs on them and there's a room stat in the hall. We have good heating now and the hot water ok (unless we use a load of it) So what's the problem??? I'm...

Changing a room stat (wiring check)

Great - I'll give it a go (once the missus has finished watching something on the telly) - then its power off and reconnect. Or am I safe to do it as long as the isolator is off at the timeswitch???

Changing a room stat (wiring check)

Just so I'm sure I understood the post So nothing connected to terminal 2 of the new stat (marked SAT) just red to C (terminal 1) and Yellow (with little red sleeve on it) to terminal 3 (marked Call)???

Changing a room stat (wiring check)

Cheers for that but all I need to know is "which wires are the common, call and satisfied" They're not labelled and I dont have the wiring diagram for my old potterton one. At the moment there's red -1, yellow - 2 and blue - 3 On my new stat, 1 is common, 2 is satisfied and 3 is call. So...

Changing a room stat (wiring check)

    Valve/actuator funny noises!!!

Brilliant - So I think a new actuator is probably the best way to go. Will it fit straight onto the spindle/valve i already have? and is the wiring pretty straight forward (I'm only a teacher!!!) :P Am I looking for the 322 type? and if so, is plumb centre the best bet?

    Valve/actuator funny noises!!!

Ok then - update time. No sign of plunger type things but it has a spindle and the quadrant thingy you mentioned. I operated the sytem in all positions whilst the actuator was removed (didn't disassemble the unit tho - no torx screwdrivers) Its "natural" position is for DHW only and...

    Valve/actuator funny noises!!!

Cheers both of you - at work at the moment but will have a look tonight. Is the actuator easy to remove from the valve? From your comments, it sounds as though something may just be seized up inside (hopefully) can you provide a link to a supplier for the sleeve or (if needed) the new actuator...
