Multi fuel stove with back boiler issues

I’d be surprised if it’s a sludge problem but you never know. You would tend to get the boiler kettling if water was struggling to circulate though. You would definitely hear this happening.

Multi fuel stove with back boiler issues

Not sure on your exact boiler model but some of these only have a small back boiler that is enough to heat a hot water storage cylinder and maybe one or two small radiators. Try shutting some of the radiators off and see if the heating is improved on the others. I suspect it will be.

Multi fuel stove with back boiler issues

You’re probably trying to run too many radiators off it. Sounds as if the boiler is too small to heat them all to a reasonable temperature. Is there another gas boiler on the system too or is it just this one?

    Mk2 Kuga Powershift (title edited)

Been a very interesting read Keith. You certainly have some stock of determination!! Glad it all worked out in the end and long live the ‘hybrid’ one off box. Happy new year!

    Silicone round bath

Yeah, I’d leave it at least overnight for it to cure. A full 24 hours would be better. Depends on the type of silicone used and the bead thickness. Thicker beads take longer to cure.

    Silicone round bath

I’d leave it until the silicone has gone off personally. Don’t see the point otherwise.

    Trailer wiring

SOLVED! A few weeks ago I’d moved the wiring loom out of the way whilst welding the rear cross member, I’d mistakenly plugged the towing loom back into itself and bypassed the cars indicator on the right hand side, thus it wasn’t getting the signal to activate the relay. Several hours later the...

    Trailer wiring

Please can anyone enlighten me as to the meanings of these abbreviations on the pins of this relay? I think it’s gone faulty and was hoping to replace with a new one. Trouble is I don’t seem to be able to source a like for like too easily, so have ordered a universal one. I’m hoping it will...

    Air con leak finding.

I don’t have personal experience but I’ve heard that the dryer part of the system will need replacing when a system has been ‘open’ for a while as it will be saturated with moisture.

    Confused about extending radiator tails

Looks as though the eBay ones would work. You could shorten the 15mm tails to suit also. If the cone on the 3/4 connector was different, you would have to adapt to the correct valve with one of these

    Confused about extending radiator tails

You could get some 1/2” steel pipe threaded at the correct length and use in conjunction with a 1/2” socket. Similar to this picture. You would need to paint after though. Lots of plumbers should have facility to cut and thread this stuff.

    Acer 5332 Laptop CD/DVD Drive

Evening folks, I would appreciate some advice on replacing the titled drive with another suitable one please. If I buy the same make and model but with a different ROM VER will it still work? Does it need to be from the exact same laptop? Thanks for any advice. Paul.

    Replacing air-con condensor Vectra C 1.8 petrol

It’s part of the standard refilling process I believe. They should put a vac pump on to check for leaks anyway, or they’ll be wasting their time and gas, and possibly your money. Not to mention the release of damaging gas to the ozone!

    DIY boiler repair safe?

Not the actual shower valve, but maybe the pressure equalising valve normally fitted just before the shower valve. If there is one? But yes that’s how you would check it. Any sort of flow would potentially reduce dhw temp. Just something that’s easily ruled out.

    DIY boiler repair safe?

If the cold side we’re getting through to the hot on your pressure equalising valve, it would flow and make its way to any hot tap/outlet in the system. It’s easy to check though. Just isolate the domestic hot water from the boiler and try any hot tap. If water flows, you know it’s the...

    DIY boiler repair safe?

Do you have a pressure equalising valve before the shower? The diaphragm went in mine, giving the same issue. If you isolate the boiler dhw flow and turn on a hot tap, you can soon check.

    Magnaclean not 'sitting' properly

I would be a bit dubious about leaving it like that. Does the red wheel not send it home properly then? If not I would take it back off and see if you see any problem. If it’s all clean, try some silicone grease on the seals and reinstall. Good luck!

    Soldering torch and gas recommendation

Propane/butane should be fine for soldering those sizes. You will get away with removing the joints. Heat up what’s left on the pipe to melt and wipe off with a dry rag. You can then emery the rest off if needed and re-solder. MAPP gas can be used for brazing too I believe.

    Soldering torch and gas recommendation

Very good torch this. Had mine several years and still as good as ever! Mapp gas burns the hottest.
