Hi All, I have removed some tiles from the floor and intend to use some levelling compound before the floor is laid. Some of the adhesive has come up with the tiles and some has stayed down. Will it be ok to use compound over this or will it all need scraping off? Thanks

You could paint them to make a feature, plenty of anti-slip concrete paints available.

Hi Rick, can’t see it being an issue just remember to treat the cut ends of the timbers. I tried to get mine the same length as above the ground or at least 300mm and it’s solid other sites said 700mm! But mine and looking at yours its only raised one step height rather than a true raised deck...

Morning, the 10mm should be fine you just don’t water sat against your brickwork as long as it can escape should be no problem. I fixed posts into the ground using 100x100 fence posts some where only 300mm above ground and I fixed my frame to these, you could remove the slabs and lay some...

Hi Rick, I have just completed a decking which ended up raised as the garden slopes. My only concern would be that over time the slabs may sink if they are just laid on was was the lawn also have you made sure water will run away from the house? Looks like you are higher than the dpc.

Thanks, getting hold of material has been a challenge! To be honest this is only the second deck I’ve laid as a diyer, my idea was to use pea gravel to stop water pooling. On the first deck I did I just used weed matting. Out of the two I’d go for sub base, ballast may hold water.

I have just finished something very similar and used cheap pea gravel.

I wasn’t sure to try and match the roof or go with a contrast. Looks smart that thanks!

Looks good, we are just at the planning permission stage for our loft. What did you use for exterior, cladding, tiles or render?

I had a friend do the plaster work, (something I’ve never done) it went straight on the wall after paper was stripped. he said he put it on a bit thicker than normal plaster just to make sure it worked.
