    CCTV camera cable config.

Solved. After a bit of playing round I did the obvious. On the power (2 blacks and 2 reds) I bunched them. On the signal, I bunched the blacks, connected blacks to braid and the yellow to the signal (inner). All works. I did try this at first but got no signal so not sure what is different this...

    CCTV camera cable config.

Thanks, I do have a tester (my background is in electronics) but the cable(s) I want to 'test' is the one that goes to the camera and I want to establish why the 'power' lead has 2 reds and 2 blacks, and the 'signal' cable has 2 blacks and a yellow (not co-axial, but separate wires). The supply...

    CCTV camera cable config.

Sandy, they have actually been cut off a while with the “I’ll get round to this later” view. Don’t have them now. Sparky, the cable shown is the one attached to the camera with the duplicated colours I want to understand. The spare bit of cable I have complies with your comment as I have mentioned.

    CCTV camera cable config.

HI all, and apologies for pestering this forum yet again. A quickie, after having my analog cameras outside for quite some years I found that I had weathered plug/socket problems so decided to cut off old plugs and fit new ones. On some old cctv cable I had it simply had a red/black for power...

CCTV Box - Convert ethernet output to Wireless?

Thanks again secureiam for taking the trouble to assist. Points taken. My existing system, a cheap and cheerful package to test the viability of cctv is actually a very good performer for what I want cctv for (Actually for wildlife watching rather than security). The only issue is wires. I...

CCTV Box - Convert ethernet output to Wireless?

Please advise if I should create a new thread for this? I am rethinking the above and am considering scrapping the existing installation and moving toward using new ip cameras and linking them to my router/pc etc. My thinking is that I buy new cameras, I link them to my router, DHCP addressing...

CCTV Box - Convert ethernet output to Wireless?

Thank you for those prompt replies guys, I think I will find a way to route/hide the Ethernet cable because I get the full Ethernet bandwidth and the quality is excellent hard-wired. Thanks again to all. SjH

CCTV Box - Convert ethernet output to Wireless?

Hi all I have my cctv box next to, and connected to my tv. The cctv box connects to my router via ethernet, allowing me to access the cctv box remotely from several devices connected to my router. I am decorating and would like to replace the ethernet connection with a wifi connection as the...

    CCTV now wants a password!

Update !!! I misjudged Xenta, they did reply to my message, and I publicly apologise for doubting them! I was given a number to call (in Goole) and the person was very helpful. Whilst on the phone I accessed my log in page and there was a code number there (8 digits). I gave the number to the...

    CCTV now wants a password!

Well the battery replacement and new hdd did no good! I have limited access via my iPad but have no ‘system access’ to allow configuration etc. Out of interest when I do try various random passwords it does suggest the password should be between 8-16 characters and should contain let’s and...

    CCTV now wants a password!

Thanks sparky, as you can guess I was hoping it held other imputable info like passwords! I am sure you will be right. Battery goes back in today, if no result it is ‘bin bound’! The scrap of paper purporting to be ‘instructions’ says if the password is forgotten then contact the maker. I have...

    CCTV now wants a password!

Just an update, all suggestions tried, including all default passwords suggested for various DVR’s on Google. No luck…I have now taken out the cmos battery for a longer period, may have been too brief first time? Also, despite my recordings appearing to be ok, I have taken out the hdd but am...

    CCTV now wants a password!

Thanks Mottie, I did find a website with a selection of default passwords (inc 123456) for various systems but have not had a chance to test as yet. Regards S

    CCTV now wants a password!

Thanks for that but it was the first thing I thought of. I actually have the original set up document which indicates the password field is left blank as default. I have always left it as a blank so not sure what has changed.

    CCTV now wants a password!

Hi all I purchased a cheapo 4 channel, 2 camera cctv set up some years ago just to ‘test the concept’. It was more for wildlife watching than security. To be honest the camera quality and recording have been perfect for it’s intended usage. It was manufactured by Xenta. On setting up...

    Cancelling sky

Now now Winston - do I detect a little cynicism there!!!! But, point taken (being a retired engineer with professional qualifications!) :censored: S

    Cancelling sky

Thanks Winston, out of interest then, if your dish or LNB were faulty, is that a chargeable repair item? I assumed that all the kit was rented and all repairs covered by the rental agreement. Engineers or Installers, obviously I meant a person whatever their title is. And also, who is to say...

    Cancelling sky

A thought? SkyQ is a rented service which I assume covers LNB, dish, cable and box(es). In theory then, if you cancel SkyQ, Sky 'could' legally remove all items? I am certain they would want the box posting back but would ignore other items? I do not, for one minute, think that Sky are going to...

    Vaillant ecoTEC + 831 - operating correctly?

Thanks Gasguru. I think I have sorted my issues now. My last post was really to acknowledge that I had had a response from Bunny (some time ago...) but had not responded with thanks (due to being unaware of his response.) Any further readers please understand that I consider this thread closed...
