    Brick or concrete garage

I built a cavity wall insulated garage with a tiled roof, which internally measures 4.5m x 6.6m for under £10k. Although that's mostly materials only virtually no labour. Its not finished yet but i expect finished will be around £10k https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/garage-self-build.532254/

Slow going - my double storey extension build

Looks very impressive, not sure i'd have the confidence to be fitting a steel into an existing wall to make a new opening... I'd be far too worried about the house falling down!

    Smart mcb?

wouldn't it be safer to use a good quality contactor to switch the high current load on and off then use a wifi relay to switch on the ~1w load of the contactor. rather than trusting something of amazon to switch 32+ amps such as this...

    Workshop Build

I think it looks good with the overhang as it is, although would make fitting guttering difficult to say the least

    Safe zone, is this allowed?

Thought so, as if you ever removed the double socket you'd remove power to the fused spur

    Garage Self Build

Hi noseall, This was to give 2.4m high walls internally after the roof trusses are overboarded with 50mm PIR and 12.5mm plasterboard. Also it was required to clear the topbox on the roller door. It also gives sufficient room for a mezzanine storage area over the store room

16amp blue socket wired off a socket spur

I'm going down the 3rd party approval route however the guy I used when I rewired the house is no longer doing it. But as long as I get it inspected before the plaster goes on whoever does the 3rd party approval can still check cable routes and if required I can make any modifications.

16amp blue socket wired off a socket spur

16amp blue socket wired off a socket spur

The reason for my first question was I was hoping to save on cabling by spuring it. But as you said that is not good practice I will now run it as a separate circuit

16amp blue socket wired off a socket spur

16amp blue socket wired off a socket spur

Ok another question then. I want to have 2 16amp sockets in the garage so I can move the welder about. Can these both be wired as 2 separate radials from the same 16amp MCB? I know this means they both cannot be used at the same time but I'm a little stuck with space in the CU

16amp blue socket wired off a socket spur

What is the reason as the 2.5mm twin and earth can supply in excess of 16amp and it it's not impossible for someone to plug in 2 2kW appliances into a double socket that is on a spur. Dispite the fact that you shouldn't. Presumably it's because the blue 16amp plugs don't have Fuses?
