    Cutting holly tree trunk

Luckily no birds nesting and I've consistently cut the height to a manageable level so in theory not a monumental task. I like the idea of cutting it down looking like a bush. It really is quite extradinary how much work there is maintaining a house.

    Cutting holly tree trunk

Yes there's some sense in what you're saying. Maybe it's too early to worry about something that hasn't yet become a problem. Was thinking, given there's a brick wall end of garden I may actually be able to tie the tree trunk down with some cable if it should become a problem.

    Cutting holly tree trunk

We have a holly tree in our back garden which has two trunks. One of the trunks is right up against our new fence with only a few milimeters gap. While it doesn't actually lean on the fence I am concerned a storm could cause some damage so I am observing the situation. Question: Will it...

How would you deal with this?

How would you deal with this?

I am putting up a new fence while also moving it closer to the edge of the house wall. As the picture shows, the corner of our house has and angle lower down rather than edge. I can install the fence 5 or so cm from the edge as one option. Any other ideas how to deal with this the best way? How

    Overlap fence panel nails

The fit between the two posts is a little tight which is why I had my doubts about whether I'd be able to fit the clips in. Mind you we're only talking about a 2-4 mm max so maybe it possible to cut a bit off the sides with a multi tool or a hand saw.

    Overlap fence panel nails

I think they're called 'overlap' fence panels. Basically I need to nail them to a wooden post.

    Overlap fence panel nails

Hi There I've bought an overlap fence panel to replace an existing one which is well worn down. The whole fence is by no means straight but it will do for now. At first I wanted to use fence clips but space is a little tight at the bottom so not sure it's a good idea. I then thought of simply...

    trv valve and radiator tail

I got it, thank you. I was trying to screw the nut on by hand (doh) which didn't work. Used a spanner and all is good. I was a little concerned I might have had a faulty valve.

    trv valve and radiator tail

Hi There I have a plumber coming in next week and just trying to make sure I have what we need. I've bought a TRV valve and straight out of the box the tail part (the part you put ptfe tape on) is loose. Meaning, when I put it into the valve part there doesn't seem to be a way of tighten it...

Adding a radiator to cold room

Btw I think our heating system is connected as a 'feed and return' type system as opposed to single pipe loop. Does that make any difference as to whether I can connect an additional radiator?

Adding a radiator to cold room

The current radiator in the room is a double 100 x 60 cm. It's connected back to back to another radiator same size in adjacent room. There's also a single radiator in the corridor 110cm x 60 cm. The new radiator is a double 30 cm x 90 cm. The 22 mm backbone F&R is visible running down wall in...

Adding a radiator to cold room

Hi There I am putting up a second radiator in a cold ground floor front room and was hoping to get a plumber in to connect the pipes once that's done. The existing radiator is on opposite side of where the new radiator will be installed (Under window). Question: Will the plumber be able to...

    Adhesive/tile thickness unused fireplace hearth

Hi there I want to tile an unused victorian fireplace hearth and would like the tiles to be flush with wooden floorboards. I've found 10mm thick tiles I like but they sit only 1-2 mm below the floorboards without adhesive. What adhesive thickness would be ideal for this scenario? Would 1-2 mm...
