    If the two port valve is intended to cut off water to the cylinder when it gets hot or the thermostat fails, can't I just have the system wired so that the boiler and pump are turned off in the event of thermostat temp exceeded or thermosts fails. I can't quite see what additional protection...

    It was fitted when I had a loft conversion five years ago, which I suspect may be befor G3 came out and I don't remember any mention of the megaflow benchmark booklet.

    I have an unvented mains pressure hot water cyling (Megaflow) which has been fitted without the two port cut-off valve that I belive is supplied with it. I'm told that I need to have the two port valve fitted in addition to the existing 3-port valve as the 3-port valve does not provide...

    Thanks for your replies. Managed to get an engineer to come out and it looks like it is the pump (but he didn't have one). Water in pump was pretty black so it looks like accumulated sludge has probably contributed (and age - about 12 years old). Tim

    My Potterton Flamingo conventional flue boiler fires up when I select HW on the programmer but then goes off after about a minute. It won't then fire up for ages (presumably until the water in the boiler has cooled). If I select CH instead, the boiler won't fire up at all. Is this likely...
