    Electrical timer - plunger switch?

Seem to remember seeing one of these a few years back - I am looking for a switch to operate lights - the one I remember was a plunger type that you pressed in and the plunger stayed in for a couple of minutes, allowing the lights to stay on for the 2 minute period. Does anyone know of a...

    Golf 1.6se 1998

Worth checking that the air inlet ducting and all related hoses from the air filter housing to engine intake and inlet manifold joints are all secure - often the plastic housing perishes or splits, allowing extra air in, this can cause the symptoms you describe.

    compression connector without central register.

I didn't realise you got purpose made 'slip' fittings, I needed one a while back and ended up filing out the internal stop ring - took ages but it did work

The Alpha CB28 boiler we had in our last house had exactly the same fault as yours, a new flow switch solved it.

    fixing lcd to false wall?

I would do it by fixing the back 2 posts to the original wall as you suggest, then connect the outer 2 posts to the back ones by horizontal timber framing - top middle and bottom, this will secure the front 'posts' Then I would put more horizontal framing between the front posts at a height to...

    240v heater in caravan

Its been a while but I have now checked the fuses on my caravan, its a 2005 model and the fuse box has the 12v system on the left and the 240 mains circuit breakers on the right. On the 12v side, the fuse for the heater is 5 amps but this is only for the fan blower, the heater element is...

    Plasterboarding a house

By puting plasterboard onto the walls you will create a cavity between the wall and board, this will give some additional insulation. Putting the plasterboard up is the easy part - either by dot dabbing or fixing to a timber frame - but you then have to finish it either by taping and filling...

    Asbestos tiles

To tell for sure that its asbestos you would have to have a sample taken and checked by a lab. It its is then the removal cost will be more as extra precautions have to be taken when removing to prevent dust, it has to be properly bagged and sealed and taken to a licensed disposal facility -...

Profiled steel roofing sheet - is condensation a problem?

    help..Novice.....with... .Plaster & lathe walls?

I don't like fixing things into lathe walls, its never easy to get a good hold. Best I have found are the wall plugs that come with screws, they are plastic and push into the hole you have made but have a flat top to prevent being pushed right into the hole. as you tighten the screw in, the...

    1989 Metro losing power

Sometimes a dodgy coil can cause this problem, works well for a while then gives up, same with the condensor. Otherwise - does it have an SU carb with the plastic screw cap on the top (dash pot)? - reason I ask is, it was more of a Maestro thing but they would often lose power in the same...

    key fob/alarm/

You might get it to work from further away by holding the fob to your head and pressing it - this was shown a while back on TV - might have been Top Gear, using a remote key fob for central locking - works on both my cars, not sure on the health risks though.

Does this type of roof construction even exist?.....

Steel is often used in roof constructions - especially attic conversions, your trusses would have to be designed by a structural Engineer - might be best to call one for a chat, before you commit.

    Roof ventilation

oops, I didn't read your post properly  If your roof ventilation was noted or detailed on the plans or specification that your contractor used, or formed plart of his written quotation then he should really come back and install it, if its not detailed at all on the above, then most...
