    Gravel board too high

Hi Sard, apologies for gate-crashing your post! Please can I ask if that’s a composite fence, and if so, would you recommend? Thanks

I haven’t Andy, but I most certainly can if that would be the best thing to do!

Adjusting toilet seat - enclosed fixings, help please!

I’m not sure what they’d done, but it wasn’t budging! All sorted today though.

Adjusting toilet seat - enclosed fixings, help please!

Hi Terry, I don’t think so. All sorted though as per my last post, and only cost £7.99 so all’s well that ends well.

Adjusting toilet seat - enclosed fixings, help please!

After 3 hours yesterday, sorted in 3 minutes today! Amazing what a difference having the right kit/part makes. £7.99 for the new pair so I’ve got a spare should the same thing ever happen to the other side. Thanks again for all of your suggestions yesterday.

Adjusting toilet seat - enclosed fixings, help please!

I’ve given up….for today! The whole thing has come out now so figured I’d be best to start again. You can see where I’d managed to get under the edge of the cap in a couple of places, but it was pretty wedged in there. Nothing in terms of a replacement at Screwfix, Toolstation or B&Q (who...

Adjusting toilet seat - enclosed fixings, help please!

Tried with the seat back on as per Mottie’s suggestion and made about 1/2mm progress. Was lifting straight up, moved the angle for the photo so you can see the full impact if the chaos I’ve caused. Have just been using the very edge of the screwdriver. Tried boiling water on the cap as well...

Adjusting toilet seat - enclosed fixings, help please!

How brutal can I be/do I need to be with it, or is brute force not the way?!

Adjusting toilet seat - enclosed fixings, help please!

Thanks Andy, I did try some WD40 and had no joy (apart from making everything really slippery!). I’ll give it another go….

Adjusting toilet seat - enclosed fixings, help please!

All help gratefully received - I’m trying to do a fairly simple job and tighten up one of the fixing screws on my toilet seat. Watched a couple of videos that all show the same quick and easy(!) process but I’m failing at the early step of “remove the cover cap” As you can hopefully see from...

Thanks Ryler - I had read that decent blades make all the difference.

    Jigsaw recommendations for DIY-er please

Hi Eddie, anything up to £75 I’d say. Currently have no further plans to use the tool, but have space in the garage to store it so you never know....

    Jigsaw recommendations for DIY-er please

Thanks wgt52 - perhaps I’m not describing very well what I’m trying to do because I’m unsure how I’d achieve it with either a mitre saw or a chop saw? The simplest parallel is perhaps the cut out in a worktop to insert a sink - except I’m cutting my hole in a pallet! I’ll look up the Makita...

    Jigsaw recommendations for DIY-er please

Hi Eddie, I think I do, but I’m open to alternative suggestions! Thought process behind jigsaw was the need to cut out a couple of squares from a fully constructed pallet so that I can insert some plastic bowls. Thanks!

    Jigsaw recommendations for DIY-er please

Hi all, Given the current goings-on, I’m finally able to start a couple of pallet projects in the garden whilst the weather is good. I already have a reciprocating saw for my “rough” work and am in the market for a jigsaw for some of the “finer” cuts - I’ve done a google search and read so...
