    Cracked granite under stove

Thanks Bonni, do you know what may have caused the crack? The stove was only installed two years ago and it has only been used over the last 6 months, not before

    Cracked granite under stove

Hello, Over the past few months I have noticed some cracks in the granite hearth underneath the stove. They have gotten progressively worse to the point where the hearth almost seems to have broken in two. Obviously this doesn't look very good and also I'm concerned that the hearth could...

    Chimney flashing

Thanks again. What happens if the rainwater can't run freely down the side of the chimney? Apologies for asking so many questions, but I really have no clue

    Chimney flashing

Hi, For the past few months I've noticed a leak in the roof causing water to drip down the outside of the chimney on one side of the loft. I had someone come to fix it and he replaced the lead flashing at the back of the chimney. It didn't work however and the water continued to leak through as...

    Wood burning stove

He used a drill to fix the register plate. At least for now the plate seems to be OK. Thank you for suggesting the use of the collar. If what B. did doesn't resolve the problem, that will be next on my list. Many thanks, Patrizia

    Wood burning stove

B., the installer, fitted the stove one year ago. He was supposed to come back the next day after spending 5 hours at the property for the installation. He never did. I have contacted him again but I haven't heard back from him yet. A liner was fitted inside, but I cannot see an air inlet pipe...

    Wood burning stove

Hello, I am still waiting for the installer to come back. I really wish to highlight that he only spent 5 hours at the property. I have now taken over the refurbishment of the house, however, as the invoice clearly shows, the installer was paid for installing air vents which he never did. The...

    Wood burning stove

Thank you for all your replies. I will go to the house tomorrow and will take more pictures. There is a plastic sheet around the stove, simply because the house is being refurbished and there is a lot of dust. I have contacted the installer, who is sick at the moment. His reply was: " Yes that...

Yes, I can see some screws on each side of the register plate but nothing in the front. I can lift the plate up and when it comes down again, ashes come out. Thanks for your advice guys!

    Tired decking

Hi, thank you for your replies. Unfortunately I don't have a jetwasher so I tried with sanding paper but to no avail. The paint around the corners and in some other areas is very thick and doesn't seem to come off at all. Can I use a paint remover solution?

    Tired decking

Hi, I am posting a picture of my decking. I used Spear&Jackson decking stain last year but now the paint is coming off in several areas. I have tried to remove the old paint with sanding paper. However, all my efforts haven't achieved much since the paint has hardened especially around the...

Thank you. I have used this stove only 5 or 6 times. Do you know why this may have happened so fast?
