So the answer on how to get the Monalock backplates off is just to prise it off at both ends with something you can get behind the plate. Underneath there are 4 screws you can tighten.

That one's not the same as the Monalock handles at the start of this thread, but maybe the handle is attached in the same way. If it is, you can just get a thin flat headed screwdriver down the side of the black button and prise it out.

Apologies for bumping this old thread, but it's actually one of the only results that comes up when googling for these old Monalock monarch handles so it's a fairly useful resource. Did Jonathan or anyone manage to remove the back-plate for the handle? This has become loose on one of my...
