If I put the smooth side on the outside it fits proud (coupler 2 picture), however the tongues dont fit flash on the inside. Is that OK?

Hi, I have a Solidor door with 1 full length side panel. An aluminium 10mm thick coupler is supplied with plastic trims to cover the jonts. One side of the coupler is smooth/flat and the other has 2 small tongues on each side (sicking out about 2 mm and 4 mm from the edge). I’m not sure which...
