How to cut this thick timber?

An Alaskan Mill will do the job but remember a chainsaw isn't a toy. We use one a lot for cutting boards from fallen trees.

Chainsaw chain dull in no time

Yes Stivino, you and I know that but very many people are blissfully unaware of the dangers of a chainsaw in unskilled hands. Here's my last refresher before I retired. Up to single windblow.

Notch7 He was reaching upwards with the saw to cut a branch above shoulder level and apparently the saw kicked back.

Chainsaw chain dull in no time

I can't see an oil feed hole in that bar!!. There should be one on each side opposite the oil feed from the crankcase, as in my photo. You should also have a multitool or a bit of broken hacksaw blade to clear the chain groove in the bar, otherwise even if there is a hole, the groove will become...

    Shot/sand blasting options

I bought one of these over 20 years ago to use with a 14cfm/150ltr compressor to blast a Reliant Scimitar chassis and other bits. Did a great job with 60 grit aluminium oxide and has been in regular use ever since for motor bike frames and the other tinwear. Highly recommended.

Removing tree stump in tight spot

HERTS P&D is spot on but as you have a chainsaw you could also saw them vertically down to ground level before drilling /using stump killer. That would be less bulk to rot away quicker.

    Missing Humax freesat channels?.

We haven't had a TV for years . Today our elderly neighbour called across the fence to complain she was missing channels 306 to 600 on her Humax box. I don't know if they were ever there in the first place but if they are missing , I wonder if her dish could have moved in the gales we had...

What does an ignition key actually do?.

ericmark, mattylad, Harry Bloomfield. Many thanks, that's the things I was wondering about, if in fact a key could be duff. After I took note of the small damage I began to pay more attention and although it sometimes worked, when it didn't I felt it almost seemed as though the immobiliser was...
