Thanks alot Alec, theat makes sense. When I removed the bathroom housing the pipe did get moved around which definitely made the leak much worse. I have tried re-alignment but it doesn't stop the leak when i re-connect it. Does this look better aligned to you now?

Yeah i think i did thanks, i took it off and tightened it up at the connection and that seems to have done something there. Though its difficult to say entirely with the water still running down from the fill valve.

ok thanks terry. looks like i'll replace the fill valve to a brass one then - tomorrow hopefully.

No clue to this noob other than Its the same size as the one that was in there already! Got a few from leyland today for 20p each, - Fibre washer is all i noted and was in plumbing section and looks the same! Threaded tail doesn't seem that damaged or cross threaded actually i think, its...

I've replaced the fibre washer at the fitting on the WC as suggested but the leak is still present. It flows out of the top heavily still. If i tighten the nut more it starts to spurt!

OK brilliant thank you very much. No its spurting from above the nut out of the top. I'll pick up a washer today for the cistern and turn off the mains to see if I can take apart the other main connectors. Thanks again.

Hi, could anyone here please offer any advice on how to troubleshoot/fix 2 separate leaks I have at the toilet of my flat in the two positions shown in the photos below? The first leak spurts out of the top of the nut at the connector of the supply valve. Tightening/adjusting the nut simply...
