This is a common problem on VAX carpet cleaners - all models. The belt tensioners seem to be a poor design and not fit for the workload most are subjected to. The belts aren't the problem - it's the rollers and tensioner assmbley. They end up not rolling, the belt overheats and melts the rollers...
