Vertical cracks in south facing corner of a 90s built house. Thermal movement or more sinister?

I still don't understand why the same happened to the conservatory dwarf wall in the shaded area.

Vertical cracks in south facing corner of a 90s built house. Thermal movement or more sinister?

So, helibar and stitching would not offer a permanent solution?

Asbestos soffit covered with UPVC. Should I be concerned

As someone who has gone through cancer twice and lost close family members to the condition, I hope for their sake they don't experience what its like to fight for every single intake of air. I don't go near any cutting, grinding or hole making machine these days without wearing masks, googles...

Asbestos soffit covered with UPVC. Should I be concerned

Lots of work for spaceman who take showers outdoors. On a more serious note, how is this going to be addressed and at what cost. Moreover, once that last tonne is removed, what is the next dangerous material to be identified and the whole process starts again? The point I was making in my last...

Asbestos soffit covered with UPVC. Should I be concerned

@23vc Many thanks. None of the properties in the street are finished with a box end. They all look the same as mine. @^woody^ Excellent, and yes all the plastics need a good clean down. It's on the growing list of things I don't want to do, but have no choice :( As a point of interest, two...

Asbestos soffit covered with UPVC. Should I be concerned

Can anyone advise on the following? Asbestos soffit at A covered with UPVC. There does not appear to be any fixings directly into the asbestos as the UPVC seems to be slotted into some form of wall clip. However, is B asbestos, and is the UPVC facia covering more asbestos at C. More...

Lower course of brickwork coming away from course above.

Absolutely. This forms part of an ongoing discussion on another forum. It makes logical sense.

Lower course of brickwork coming away from course above.

Woody There is no DPC where the mortar is falling out, or in any of the lower brickwork around the whole property. Also, what is going on with the course of bricks below: they're not bonded on the brick ends and are aligned in a stack bond?

Lower course of brickwork coming away from course above.

I’d be grateful for any advice on the following: What is going on with this lower course of brickwork. 60s Det Bungalow with concrete pathway. The path has started to crack and sink, could it have taken the lower course of brickwork with it? If so, what has become of the foundations? Its...

Can anyone identify this section of a lean-to conservatory?

That was my first thought, but I've never seen one with that depth. From memory sticks out around 35cm from the wall.

Can anyone identify this section of a lean-to conservatory?

It is indeed a bungalow, but the conservatory is fitted on the gable end.

Can anyone identify this section of a lean-to conservatory?

I'm miles from the property so unable to look in any detail, but in the top right hand corner. To the untrained eye, and based on the only image I have, its shape is reminiscent of an RSJ. To those who work with these materials’ day in, I’m hoping the mystery can be solved ! Ideas on a...

I think its been there since the 60s. I can hear it knitting and watching Crossroads from behind the fire!

Cost to replace old gas fire and back boiler with a wall mounted combi

So in effect a whole new system? I was thinking around that price just to have the boiler, so a full system would be even better.

Cost to replace old gas fire and back boiler with a wall mounted combi

I appreciate this is a question that can only be answered in general without any details, but here goes: I am deciding whether to buy a late 1960s 2 bed bungalow (70m2 floor space) with an old gas fire and back boiler. What would be the approximate cost to have a mid-range combi boiler fitted...

Is this crack anything to worry about.

1994 Bungalow. The crack, although fine, does go through the brick vertically. There are also a few assorted spalled bricks. None of which exist on any of the other properties built at the same time. You thoughts are most welcome :)
