A rare case of common sense prevailing.

helps a bad back they say. Straw man. No one is contending that she shouldn't define the rules for her private institutions. She made a claim about inclusion/exclusion which is an unsubstantiated claim which she needs to demonstrate. I don't like people using flowery language, be frank and...

A rare case of common sense prevailing.

The non-faith state secondary school previously told the High Court that allowing prayer rituals risked "undermining inclusion" among pupils. How does Ms Birbalsingh prove that ? and who defines what is inclusive and exclusive ? Ms Birbalsingh ? circular and self-contradictory. She is...

Exactly - liberal economics whereby you outsource everything because it's cheaper.

@Notch7 Also, 97% for 120 ballistics is pretty good, but scale up the ballistics to 2k or 4k and the numbers will look very different. Things change at scale, and whilst they are overwhelmed, having missiles destroy batteries will naturally degrade their capabilities even more. Your conception...

    Israel under attack

The Russians are always slow to start up but once they get going they don't look back i.e. WW2. It's not how you begin but how you finish. The americans defeated the Taliban straight up and declared victory post 9-11 only to be running with their tails between their legs 20 years later -...

    Israel under attack

Calm down, sit down and drink some water. Russia and China are almost guaranteed to get involved if it came to that. You know, the same guys who were "about to fall" from the first day of the Ukraine war up till about a week ago where it's almost assured they are going to dominate this conflict...

    Israel under attack

The Iranians didn't want escalation and were communicating with the Americans through back channels about what they were intending to do (as they did in 2020) since it was getting very heated back home. They have been uniequivocal since day one that they do not want escalation, neither do the...

    Silicone grease in CH

In terms of dirt, it depends on the type of grease. For example, water resistant/repellent grease is semi-permeable so will allow for eventual water/dirt ingress, but waterproof grease creates an impenetrable film so water and dirt will slide off. Using it in pushfit couplers, non-moving...

    Running water/hissing sound through radiators?!

If you play with the pump speed, does the hissing change along with it ?

    Silicone grease in CH

What grease brand do you use, and where do you use it? I want to use it primarily in certain types of valves (inc. diverters) that get sticky and attract dirt which effects performance.

    Silicone grease in CH

Looks like Silverhook do a diaelectric waterproof silicone-based grease with a max operating temp above 180c. That would be more appropriate with synthetic o-rings.

    Silicone grease in CH

This is to be used on CH, not potable. The silicone grease I have used to fix some sticky diverter valves (plastic) always wash off 2-4 weeks post install, and before you mention, the issue is thermal expansion and not sludge. The part needs lubrication to prevent sticking/water hammer. Also...

    Silicone grease in CH

Thanks. The Artic Hayes brand is water repellent so will probably break down in the short term in a wet system. I have settled on Carlube Marine Waterproof Grease - waterproof and has low wash off so hoping it'll last for a few years.

    Silicone grease in CH

Do you use marine grade grease ? or anything as long as its silicone? My biggest concern is with pressurised systems which have a high flow rate (esp low temp) that the grease will just wear off. I am currently researching different types of greases and have found marine grade lithium grease...

    Silicone grease in CH

Has anyone ever used silicone grease in the wet parts of a heating system? e.g. pump, diverter etc - I have on occasion come across valves that get a little sticky which could do with some cleaning and I would imagine some waterproof grease would do wonders but I am not sure about longevity of...

Dosing vessel via boiler filling loop

Has anyone ever used a dosing vessel for a boiler filling loop ? I need to use some DS40 to clear some muck off the heat exchanger, the boiler will be isolated from the rest of the system since the rads have already been cleaned and I don't want to redo everything again.
