woodburner with backboiler - worth it?

I installed a boiler stove 2 years ago, so this will be our 3rd winter with it. I only burn anthracite coal and I get a steady 65-70 degrees for eight hours on only 8kg's of anthracite. We have a total of 13 rad's and a 120L cylinder. I love it personally. Sure, it would be far easier to push a...

    Brick/breeze/concrete blocks shed

I would also go with timber frame and rendered. I have done this twice in the past and I'm currently doing the same with my side extension.

How should a dry verge be finished?

To be honest, the installation doesn't look too dissimilar from other dry verge systems I've seen. If there's no sign of water ingress I would say it's ok. You could do as you've suggested and tidy it up a little but it looks fair to me. Is it a fairly new job then?

How should a dry verge be finished?

Yes sorry about that. Something happened and I could finish my sentence. I was going to say that the verges on a small sun room that I built on the back of my house still has open verges that are ready to be cemented. It's been like that for a couple of years would you believe, but rain water...

How should a dry verge be finished?

Normally you would have undercloak tucked under your battens. This give something for your mortar to sit on

please help, hole in outside concrete damp inside wall

Interesting. The school where I work had an on-going issue with rain getting in to the building (flat roof) and soaking the ceiling tiles of the executive head's office. We had atleast 7 different roofing companies come out to try and solve the issue but they just couldn't sort it. In the end, I...

    Bridging clay sewer pipe

Thanks again Special. That picture looks pretty much identical to how my trench looks right now, only my pipe is about 800mm-1000mm below ground, and my trench runs straight just over 7ft wide between my house and the double skinned wall between mine and next door neighbour. They had their...

    Bridging clay sewer pipe

Thanks SpecialK. I'm currently 150mm below the pipe across the entire trench. I've had some conflicting info regarding the actual footing though, as various sources say that I can now just shutter the pipe with a 150mm space all round for shingle, pour concrete, remove shuttering then bridge...

    Bridging clay sewer pipe

I think I'm just going to dig down a further 300mm. The trenches are only 7' wide so it's not too much extra work. I'll try to return in the future with updates and photos for the project section. Take care all

    Bridging clay sewer pipe

Good evening all! Just want to say that this site is fantastic and the knowledge within in immense. Until recently I've been able to find all I need from here without having to beg for info, but I just need some clarification regarding the footings that I'm going to pour for a timber framed side...
