Thanks heaps. :wink: He was aware (he tells me) of replacing the whole valve, but he was hoping to simply buy replacement valve, and only use the top half - thus eliminating having to drain down the system! Appreciate your quick responses. :lol:

no, it has UBM written on it. He tells me: it has a crome dimple centre about 1 and half inch diameter, and the bit you screw up and down is ribbed, but you can see through it. :? They fit any radiator apparently. but the ones he has are about 15 yrs old! He wants a like-for-like...
