Cleaning long waste run from kitchen sinks

Sorry I didn't explain very well. The elbow temporarily fitted for the cleaning session blocks the exit, and the opening at the top of the vertical leg of this L is raised up higher than the sink end. Paul's gone to bed now, so I can't check with him that I've got this exactly right, but I think...

Cleaning long waste run from kitchen sinks

Madrab Sorry, didn't see your second post. Paul does know about recommended length of pipe runs and wouldn't have done things this way if there had been a practical alternative.

Cleaning long waste run from kitchen sinks

Quite a lot to report: With regard to the configuration of the waste pipe, Paul says that when he is planning an overnight soaking session, he fits the upstand into a pushfit elbow near the end of the pipe, which creates a U-shaped pipe – with a very long gently sloping bottom – from the exit...

Cleaning long waste run from kitchen sinks

Paul does some sort of routine whereby he fills the pipe with whatever solution he's using and retains it in the pipe overnight. He has got the system working quite well but so far hasn't found a solution that does much with the sediment – it still runs nearly clear after being in the pipe about...

Cleaning long waste run from kitchen sinks

I'll get Paul to draw a diagram of the configuration of the waste pipe and post it here (if the website allows me to).

Cleaning long waste run from kitchen sinks

It might be simpler if I explained that I am Sue and not Paul (who loves LandRovers). It is Paul who does the plumbing but me who does the computer stuff (because I love computers and he hates them). I will pass on the info about rubber and chemical resistance.

Cleaning long waste run from kitchen sinks

Sorry, Captain Nemesis, you and I posted simultaneously. I'll be pleased if washing soda does the trick, but we'll go on to caustic soda if we need to.

Cleaning long waste run from kitchen sinks

As I said to JohnD, Kitesurfer, we are planning to see how we get on with soda crystals. Presumably we'd need to use the Strong dilution (220g to 500ml)? I will report back in a few days when we have tried this. Thank you, both

Thanks, John. We'll give it a try. (Couldn't agree with you more about BJ!)

Cleaning long waste run from kitchen sinks

Our recently restored kitchen initially had no sink and no water. The only water was from the well adjacent to the scullery. Now we have two sinks in the kitchen but the waste is a 20m 40mm push-fit run through three rooms to the 100mm soil pipe. The slope is better than 1:40. I can reluctantly...
