Quite a lot to report: With regard to the configuration of the waste pipe, Paul says that when he is planning an overnight soaking session, he fits the upstand into a pushfit elbow near the end of the pipe, which creates a U-shaped pipe – with a very long gently sloping bottom – from the exit...

Paul does some sort of routine whereby he fills the pipe with whatever solution he's using and retains it in the pipe overnight. He has got the system working quite well but so far hasn't found a solution that does much with the sediment – it still runs nearly clear after being in the pipe about...

I'll get Paul to draw a diagram of the configuration of the waste pipe and post it here (if the website allows me to).

It might be simpler if I explained that I am Sue and not Paul (who loves LandRovers). It is Paul who does the plumbing but me who does the computer stuff (because I love computers and he hates them). I will pass on the info about rubber and chemical resistance.

As I said to JohnD, Kitesurfer, we are planning to see how we get on with soda crystals. Presumably we'd need to use the Strong dilution (220g to 500ml)? I will report back in a few days when we have tried this. Thank you, both
