    velux windows

I have just realised that I didn't reply to the question about where to buy the replacement units at a reasonable cost.......... sorry! I just contacted a local glazing company in Didcot and they quoted me £37.26 each (including vat) for GGL5 units. I was quoted cheaper from another local...

    velux windows

Is replacing the sealed unit in a velux window an easy DIY job? I can buy the sealed units at a reasonable price but don't know whether it's the sort of job that can be easily tackled from inside the house. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Jane.

    air in pump

Latest update - Don't seem to have a problem with air in the pump since Friday night - no idea why, hadn't changed anything. Still went ahead and checked the manual air vent and got nothing but water out of it, it seemed to be working fine. However............. we do have a problem with...

    air in pump

I'm amazed at just how many pipes we do have in our airring cupboard... I've taken another look to try and indentify what the two are that you asked about and I'm afraid I'm none the wiser. We have a total of five pipes that go up from the cupboard through the ceiling to the upstairs, and...

    air in pump

Thank you for that. I will have to wait until tomorrow now to check the vent as suggested as the heating is running at the moment! (to be expected this weather). I have been back and with much contortion and the aid of a torch established that the vent pipe actually comes out of the back of...

    air in pump

Hello again - On the basis that taking a picture of the top of the boiler to check for vents was the easiest option of the suggestions put forwards so far, this is what I have done. I'm guessing that the green yucky pipe in this picture does show what you are talking about? If it is...

    air in pump

Here we go with the two pictures as requested, I hope they help The pump is a Grundfos, type UPS 15-60 130 and is set on the middle speed. Feedtank is in the roof space, and boiler is on the ground floor, guessing at 12' between? Thank you for taking the time to try and solve this for me.

    air in pump

    air in pump

Two motorised valves, one has three pipes as you quite rightly guessed. We have been in the loft and can see no problems with the tank, we have also drained some water out of the system and it topped back up correctly. I Hope this gives you some useful clues as to what our problem might be.

    air in pump

You are quite correct, we do have two motorised valves, and yes the boiler also heats the hot water cylinder. Tomorrow will go into the roof and check the tank as you suggest and will also carry out the other check that you have suggested. Thank you for your extremely prompt and helpful...

    air in pump

Apologies, I should have given more information. The boiler is a Potterton Nettaheat and is more than 20 years old. I don't know the difference between sealed and open, how do I tell? I guess that the hot water is pumped as air is gathering in the pump ?! We had work done last year to sort...

    air in pump

We have a problem over the last couple of weeks with air gathering in the central heating pump. We bleed it all out and a couple of days later can hear that it\\\'s back again, usually a fair amount! (can\\\'t be good for the pump as it\\\'s getting very hot) Any clues as to what the cause and...
