Combining feed and vent to prevent pumpover advice please!

What does the manual vent do, and when would I open it? Is it the same thing as I already have in my airing cupboard on the stalk? I will also buy a 15mm gate valve. Just going to Toolstation now. Thank you so much.

Combining feed and vent to prevent pumpover advice please!

@Johntheo5 I like what you're saying but I'm a bit stupid . Now this is my to-do list - 1) Remove 15mm cold feed pipe from my F+E Tank, cut the other end 15mm pipe in my airing cupboard near where it joins the main circuit. Put a compression stop on it. 2) Make hole bigger in F+E tank and use...

Combining feed and vent to prevent pumpover advice please!

Regarding my pic in post 10 - Could I put a 22mm Equal tee in on the horizontal line, just above where i've marked it, then run 22mm pipe back to header tank. Then cut the 15mm pipe downstairs in the airing cupboard and put a stop end on it? I'm confusing myself

Combining feed and vent to prevent pumpover advice please!

Would it work if I joined them here? Header tank on right off picture, it's raised quite high with the overflow pipe running along the roof and dropping down into tank

Combining feed and vent to prevent pumpover advice please!

Here is an updated picture with the sections I cut out and replaced. The cold feed comes in after the vent. I'm pretty sure it goes boiler> filter (why I don't know) > vent > cold feed > loop round to pump, then diverter valve off to CH or HW. It has been overpumping the entire time, before...

Combining feed and vent to prevent pumpover advice please!

Hi all, A year ago I had a broken gravity fed heating system. I was advised by the good people (@Elkato531 @Johntheo5) here to cut out a section of pipe where cold feed and vent join up in my airing cupboard and replace. I did this, and discarded the pipe which was heavily full of magnetite...

    Can Grundfos UPS2 fail slowly?

Yep it's completely cleared all the way to the pump, I'm really surprised it's going up the vent considering the suction from the pump. Could it be from air still in the system, or a bad layout? Otherwise I think the method Johntheo5 suggested is the way forward. Thanks again for you help with...

    Can Grundfos UPS2 fail slowly?

So you were absolutely right, completely choked up at the cold feed and vent area. I've now cleared it and replaced some pipe. The system is now getting nicely hot everywhere. I took the pump head off for a clean as well, and it was free of magnetite. When I put it all back on the pump was...

    Can Grundfos UPS2 fail slowly?

That bend at the bottom scares me but I'll give it a go. Annoyingly the magnet is sticking on the first bend after the mag.filter, so carp has got backt there too!

    Can Grundfos UPS2 fail slowly?

Thanks for your helpful reply. There's also some magnetism down on the ubend before the pump, so I'm going to chop that one as well! Cheers!

    Can Grundfos UPS2 fail slowly?

Hi Elkato, here is a pic of my upstairs airing cupboard. Boiler is downstairs. My magnet is sticking on the ubend before the circulating pump and all the way up the pipe before this. Is that a normal place for magnetite build up? I dont understand the direction of travel from the boiler up to...

    Can Grundfos UPS2 fail slowly?

I took the head off and cleaned out the impeller with a cable tie so should be good. Can I buy a new impeller? Worth a go. Thanks for your reply

Replace Grundfos ups2 15-50 or not?

This seems affordable, what's your experience like with them? Can't find much online. Cheers

Replace Grundfos ups2 15-50 or not?

Yes all balanced as far as I'm aware. Ive tightened the lockshields up as much as poss upstairs. Does it matter that at the end of the line downstairs is the biggest rad in the house? Cheers

Replace Grundfos ups2 15-50 or not?

Hi all, I've got the above pump. I took the head off to clean out the crap in the impeller and put it back together again, I've had sentinel x400 running for almost a month now. My 11 rads dont heat up when all are turned on, but if i isolate downstairs then they work, same for if upstairs is...

Using X400 - lockshield valves fully open?

Last rad being a nightmare to heat up, no CH when HW called as well

Morning, Thanks to those who have helped me so far as my mission to show the missus I'm not completely useless continues. I've got a massive radiator on the end of my open vented system downstairs. It's a double thick one, over 2m long but only about 50cm tall. It's a nightmare to heat up...
