JUST TWO THIN BROWN CABLES

HELP, i am fitting a new light fitting in the kitchen but there are only two wires coming out of the ceiling.which of the three(LIVE,NEUTRAL&EARTH)should i connect these two wires to? also the two wires are the same colour. all help would be grateful,thanks.
