Combi boiler | Safety discharge pipe | Pushfit?

Some idiot (;)) was painting the outside of the house. There were lots of old copper pipes protruding from the wall that were part of an old water cylinder installation. These were all cut off and removed. The holes were filled with sand and cement and the wall was painted. Unfortunately, it...

Radiators balanced at full load, but not at low demand

It apparently refers to the 'proportional deviation'. I don't think my system was 'designed', so I've got no idea what my system's proportional deviation is. I presume it is 2k, because 1k appears to be better and I think the system fitter wasn't very good...

Auto bypass valve | Advice on how to fit with a 160cm wide radiator

So does that mean it is 'safe' to run the system using the TRVs to control the temperatures of all the rooms, even though that might result in all TRVs automatically closing? Basically, can I rely on the boiler's automatic bypass valve or is it likely to break at some point and then result in...

Auto bypass valve | Advice on how to fit with a 160cm wide radiator

There is no hot water tank and no zoning valves.

Auto bypass valve | Advice on how to fit with a 160cm wide radiator

This is the current situation. Boiler in upstairs bathroom cupboard. Radiators in order: Upstairs bathroom > Landing >Tee for downstairs > Back bedroom > landing (thermostat) > small front bedroom > large front bedroom...

Auto bypass valve | Advice on how to fit with a 160cm wide radiator

I'm not in the trade, so I'll take your word for that Does this mean that running the living room TRV and lockshield valves 'fully open' is pointless in terms of preventing pump damage? I thought the purpose of an automatic bypass valve was to prevent damage when all the TRVs close. Surely...

Auto bypass valve | Advice on how to fit with a 160cm wide radiator

That radiator is used as a bypass (lock shield valve is fully open and TRV set to max temp). I don't think the system installer was very good My boiler is a Vaillant Ecotec Plus 835.

Auto bypass valve | Advice on how to fit with a 160cm wide radiator

The furthest radiator from my boiler is a 160cm x 50cm Type 22 in my living room. It has always been set as the bypass, but this isn't ideal. The living room can overheat, whilst the kitchen is cold. The obvious answer would be to set a lower temperature on the TRV in the living room, but this...

Radiators balanced at full load, but not at low demand

Thanks I'll give that a try. I've actually ordered a Tado ebus thermostat. I'm hoping that might improve things from a modulation perspective, but I suspect my boiler just can't modulate low enough.

Radiators balanced at full load, but not at low demand

The column radiator is double column 2000h x 490w. According to the Screwfix website, the output is 1380W. I have changed the TRV to pre-setting 3 to roughly double the flow. I think the volume of water in the column radiators is much greater than the Type 22 rads? It is a Vaillant boiler, but...

Radiators balanced at full load, but not at low demand

Earlier today, I spent a couple of hours balancing my radiators. I did it via the Drayton TRVs using their balancing key. I managed to get them fairly well balanced with a flow temp of 65C. The radiators were really pumping out the heat and the return temperature was well below the condensing...

    Honeywell TR4 | Worth upgrading?

[Bump] Does anybody have experience with 'smart' ebus controllers and Vaillant Ecotech Plus boilers?

    Honeywell TR4 | Worth upgrading?

Radiators 4x 180cm X 50cm double panel, double convector (DPDC). 1 x 200cm X 60cm DPDC. 1 x 60 cm X 200cm double column. 3 x 60 cm X 60cm DPDC. According to specifications on Screwfix, these total about 17kW. We would like to do quite a large extension, which could double the existing floor...

    Honeywell TR4 | Worth upgrading?

I have a Vaillant Ecotech 835 boiler controlled by a Honeywell TR4. The boiler was previously set to automatic partial load and I tried dropping the flow temperature. The boiler kept turning off before the flow temperature was reached. I've now changed the partial load to 18kW and flow temp to...
