Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

I'm updating this thread with what appears to be the problem finally solved, 3 months down the line. Two engineers came in and did a more thorough deep dive than previous, and found that a (or the?) feed pipe going from the boiler to the HW cylinder was blocked. They were able to chip out the...

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

I wish it were that simple. As mentioned previously, I have no CH at all whenever my HW is on, so all the balancing in the world won't solve that. My approach now is to get to the 3 week point with the Sentinel, drain off, and then get the plumber to look at the (return) pipes he is suspicious...

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

I am getting some circulation @ianmcd - I can heat up any of the radiators in the house as long as I turn off enough of the others. Which seems to suggest the x400 is getting around to some degree?

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

No need to apologise - all comments gratefully received. Yes, this is something I have been spending a lot of time on! After 1 week of doing this, it doesn't seem to improve the circulation, but the rads themselves are getting hotter. Interestingly, my Power Flush plumber didn't suggest this, it...

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

Today the plumber took away the Grundfos to be checked / repaired. Given that we would prefer to have the Grundfos pumping the system, then I think the 2nd option will be what happens. It sounds like those options are things that should be done, but will not necessarily solve the circulation issue?

If so, according to my plumber it isn't an ABV. Perhaps he'd refer to it as something different. I can't find anything fitting that description. The expansion tank has on overhead bent pipe feed, an overflow, and another pipe coming in - that's about it.

Yes and no - boiler switches off, but pump is constantly running The hose is loose and not part of the system. I haven't yet established if I'm sealed or not.

As follows, although you can't see the pump itself here - that you can view in an earlier upload I made It isn't piped in plastic It isn't - probably looking at another 5 years. But we need the heating to be working during that time. Apparently not, according to my plumber. I asked him an...

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

Yes - around 10 minutes at least I'd say. For the short periods it is on, I'm amazed we get the heat we do (i.e. for either the water or 3-4 radiators).

Any thermostat :giggle: - I think because she (and I for that matter) want the solution to be something simple that has been overlooked. Versus the probability that the house will have to be ripped apart to find (a) blocked pipe(s) somewhere. I do, and it looks as you have described - arrow...

Right - adding that to my list. My wife has been saying for weeks now that she thinks it's the thermostat, and that no-one is taking her seriously.

The only way I could look at the direction arrow would be to remove the pump, which is way outside my comfort zone. But I do have that on the checklist for when the plumber comes in, alongside all the other useful tips people have been giving me here. Which brings me onto your last point -...

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

    1. I believe it's under warranty 2. It didn't make the loud humming noise the BritTherm makes 3. If it can be serviced / repaired, I believe it's better quality than the BritTherm. Certainly more expensive. 4. If points 1 and 3 are true, then it can be put back in service or kept as a spare...

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

That BritTherm pump doesn't really have a bulbous bit to it (that I can make out). But pipes going in and out are red hot, same with those either side of the two-way valves. Can't say if one pipe is hotter than another as all are too hot to leave your hand on. On a side note, my original plumber...

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

That side of the pump is so tight against the wall that I can't get a reflection. However, the plumber did admit that the problem he had with the installation was the head pointing the wrong way, and that he'd had to turn it through 180 deg. I don't think that's conclusive evidence, as I...

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

Hmm. They're actually on a pipe that tees off the down pipe. This was one of my concerns with the plumber fitting it, as it took him a couple of tries to get it 'fitted correctly', and he didn't seem totally confident with this particular task. Also, I don't think I mentioned earlier, but the...

The pump is set on speed 3, but I can't see an arrow on the side of the pump body, perhaps because it's on the side I am unable to view

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

Plumber B had good reviews and worked hard to fix the problem, but it was all trial-and-error with no firm diagnosis. I don't know him that well, so your observation could still be correct. Plus if not the rads, then the problem will still be there at the end! Plumber A has been technically...

Central Heating Only Coping With Heating 3 or 4 radiators

I did that, and no water emerging from the vent pipe and the tank is still I can see two valves like the 2 port one you posted, near the HW cylinder and pump. Interesting! I did this and 1) the pump came on but not the boiler, and 2) It took nearly 10 mins for the boiler to kick in. The water...
