    Help Explain Gutters and Downspouts

Our house is from the 1980s, if that helps explain what’s going on. I’ll try to get a photo when the suns back up. If it’s as you’ve described, what then is the function of the gutters? I thought they took the water captured by the roof and kept it from being deposited along the home’s...

Overboarding Landing Under Carpet, Ply or Alternatives?

Wanted to add a photo and ask if overboarding is recommended in the first place? I replaced a few boards. There are gaps to the right of the new boards (especially if you ignore the tongue), and a knot hole in the bottom left.

    Help Explain Gutters and Downspouts

I’m really struggling to understand our home’s gutters. We are end-of-terrace, with one downspout in the front. It’s the single pipe that goes into the grey bricks in front of the fence. I pulled it out yesterday and discovered that it just goes about 12 inches into sandy soil under the brick...

Overboarding Landing Under Carpet, Ply or Alternatives?

I have screwed down the floorboards for a 1 square meter landing that opens to two bedrooms, the bathroom, and the staircase. This has eliminated the creaks, but there are gaps. My plan is to overboard with 6mm plywood, but from reading online I have seen NoMorePly concrete fabric sheets and...

Sealing the Gap Between Window and Sill?

Thanks for your advice! Here in a photo of the whole sill. I don’t see any drainage caps. I will try to remove the CT1 (it doesn’t look good anyway…. was great when I applied it and took that photo, then it caught a bunch of dirt as it dried). We also think the source of the leak is in the...

Sealing the Gap Between Window and Sill?

Water is getting into our conservatory and has ruined part of our windowsill. The water pools in one corner. Somebody advised me to apply CT1 to seal the gap between our conservatory windows and the sill on the outside to stop the leak. It didn’t work, and now somebody else has said that I...
