Its a ST699 which was a direct replacement for the last one, which by the way had just crumbled. Should I have not used it?

I am having trouble with the control panel, seems to be overheating screen blacks out and unable to read until it cools down again, I have just replaced the control panel and immediately the same problem occurs, any suggestions Thanks
