    Using keypad zones at panel

Exactly, I strongly stand by doing things properly. On one hand I could power detectors off the control bus, since the same bus can also be used for expanders runnings tens of detectors. But on the other hand to minimise risk on a smaller house system, you might aswell send power from the...

    Using keypad zones at panel

Aight. Read somewhere else that if I were to wire a PIR directly to a keypad zone then I’d need to send aux power separately down cores on the keypad cable rather than draw from the bus - right?

    Using keypad zones at panel

Depends on where the keypad is. If I have a keypad with zones spare and need to use zones somewhere else, I could bring them back to the panel for use elsewhere

    Using keypad zones at panel

I'm installing 2 keypads (Scantronic i-on KEY-KPZ01 if you're interested), both of which have 2 zones onboard. I'd like to make use of these back in the panel itself, and read elsewhere on this forum to run 8 core and use the spare cores to send the zones back to the panel. Would it be fine to...

    Alarm cables nearbymains cables

Great stuff. So I’ll go ahead with that then, as long as my parralel runs are spaced apart and don’t last for more than a couple metres. Then I’ll test with a multimeter and fit spike suppressors if needed (and even if not I’ll throw one in there to be sure) Thanks again for your help

    Alarm cables nearbymains cables

Definitely considering getting a mains and also a DC spike suppressor. Though do you reckon running a few alarms cables parallel to a couple mains cables with a 30cm gap will affect anything?

    Alarm cables nearbymains cables

I know this question has been asked a few times, but I am planning where to run 8 core alarm cables and at a couple of points I will need to run parallel to 1mm^2 t&e for about 50cm. How much of a gap should I leave between the mains and alarm cables to avoid interference? I’ve heard in some...

    Alarm Power Availability

So at most times you could use over 750mA? And I presume the panel only charges the battery when the system isn’t doing much?

    Alarm Power Availability

Bump, any ideas? I’ve seen similar things about power in Texecom manuals too

    Alarm Power Availability

Question time my friends. Been reading the manual for the Scantronic i-on50EX, and I’ve been confused by the power capabilities. In an example used to work out the battery size required, it states that a large system will draw around 1 Amp during full alarm: However, on the specifications...

Any way to connect multiple Sirens/SABs to an alarm panel?

So at the end of the day, if it’s a system in your average 3 bedroom house, then you could get away with two SABs (front and rear) just on the panel alone. However if you’re running a house and a few outbuildings, if you want multiple SABs then a PSU expander is needed since you’ll have more...

Any way to connect multiple Sirens/SABs to an alarm panel?

After finding the answer on the Texecom forum, I understand now haha. With a PSU200XP, I can set 2 of the expander’s outputs to bell and strobe, and then to power the bell I can use the aux power directly off the power supply’s terminals. This should allow me to run one or two extra SABs on the...

Any way to connect multiple Sirens/SABs to an alarm panel?

Sorry for the confusion - I’ll figure it out mate

Any way to connect multiple Sirens/SABs to an alarm panel?

That’s the idea. I don’t really want to rely on the siren’s internal battery as it’ll need replacing every couple years. Surely I could make it mains powered while in SCB mode by bypassing the battery, making it similar to a SAB

Any way to connect multiple Sirens/SABs to an alarm panel?

Basically running a siren in SCB mode but taking out the battery and replacing it with a mains current from a DC power supply of similar specification.

Any way to connect multiple Sirens/SABs to an alarm panel?

Exactly. Though I was more referring to whether the outputs themselves can supply enough current (or are they designed to only ‘sink’ current). I also thought of another idea, running a siren (let’s say an odyssey X) in SCB mode so it runs on battery power while going off, except we remove the...

Any way to connect multiple Sirens/SABs to an alarm panel?

Would the outputs be able to supply the siren enough power, or would I have to set it to SCB mode and use its battery during alarm?

Any way to connect multiple Sirens/SABs to an alarm panel?

I’ve looked at powered expanders, though they don’t have bell connections. Are you suggesting that I supply more power to the system and then run multiple bells in parallel? Surely that wouldn’t work since the main board’s connectors can only output so much power.

Any way to connect multiple Sirens/SABs to an alarm panel?

A relative has 3 sheds, a detached garage and large house that I'm planning to wire up with an alarm, though I want to have multiple SABs, one or two on the house, one on the garage and another on one of the sheds. I was looking into running one large panel (a Scantronic I-ON or Texecom Premier...

    PIR Positioning

Fair, its not directly above it but I could probably get away without a detector there if I’m protecting both doors with perimeter sensors
