Apologies...been a while since I've dabbled. The connected switch is a one gang two way and the one I've taken off is two gang two way.

To the best of my knowledge it's the brown & blue wires in the first pic that are going to the outdoor light. Matches what's out there, and something in that box has had the ability to turn it on somehow.
