    Combi boiler losing pressure

To be honest, I wouldn’t have the first clue how to anyway! I’m just surprised such a product exists!

This is very interesting! Is it easy to apply?

    Combi boiler losing pressure

Thanks for this! So long as there isn’t a huge amount of water being dumped into my foundation, I can afford the council some patience! I’ve looked pretty much everywhere. It’s not any of the radiators and I’ve checked all the exposed pipes. Good luck to the poor guy who has the task of...

    Combi boiler losing pressure

Evening guys, Just a little update - or not - I put a bag over the pressure relief pipe a little while ago and it’s bone dry, despite all the rain and wind we’ve had! I spoke to the council and they’ve lodged a repair, however this will most likely take months to happen. I was just...

    Combi boiler losing pressure

Before the boiler was installed, we had a massive copper cylinder in a cupboard and a tank in the loft, it would take about an hour to heat up before anyone could have a bath and longer if there were radiators on! It must’ve been ancient as the guys removing it were shocked to see it. I would...

    Combi boiler losing pressure

Great - thank you! I’ll get the council on it as it’s definitely way beyond my remit. In the interim, is topping up my boiler once a fortnight (roughly) going to do any extensive damage to it? It took the council three months to replace a radiator so I don’t see this being a quick fix!

    Combi boiler losing pressure

The pipes do all come up vertically from concrete to the radiators! Interesting…thank you for that. So it could well be a case of a plumber breaking into the concrete on the ground floor or taking up the floorboards upstairs? That’s well beyond my level of expertise! I’m guessing there is...

Ground floor is concrete and boiler is downstairs in the kitchen

    Combi boiler losing pressure

Evening guys, Just a quick update on this. The bag I placed around the pipe outside is bone dry so I’m assuming it’s not that? Bit of a silly question but do water pipes run along the walls and edges of the house, or could they be in the middle of the ceiling/flooring? I’m going to see if I...

    Combi boiler losing pressure

Thank you for this! Last year I had a leak in my kitchen ceiling however the plumber who came couldn’t find any pipes running through the kitchen ceiling and instead found water had been pooling from the bath and coming through the floor which he then sorted and has been fine ever since. Is...

    Combi boiler losing pressure

Brilliant - thank you. I’m going to leave it alone then and see if/where the pressure stabilises.

    Combi boiler losing pressure

That’s good to know, thank you. Is it common for a boiler to drop from 1.5 bar to 1 in the space of a few days? Maybe I’ve been overthinking… To be fair, I’ve never left it to really drop to zero, perhaps I should see what happens. Maybe it drops to .9(ish) then stabilises? As you can all...

    Combi boiler losing pressure

It’s never stopped functioning before, not since we replaced the radiator anyway. I imagine it probably would drop to 0 eventually however it’s become a part of my morning routine to check the pressure and if it ever falls below 1 bar, I top it back up to 1.5. It’s a 4 bedroom house with 10...

    Combi boiler losing pressure

Yep - we lose pressure all year round. When we put the heating on, it jumps to 1.8-2ish bar. Then very quickly settles back around 1-1.5 bar once it’s been switched off.

    Combi boiler losing pressure

I set it to 1.5 bar. I believe I’m doing it correctly as I was shown how to by the person who installed it. Before I had my leaking radiator replaced. The pressure would very often drop to 0 if left alone overnight. Since replacing my radiator, it does still drop but a lot slower. I tend to top...

    Combi boiler losing pressure

That’s interesting, thank you! Say there is a leak in the pipes under the ground floor…I’m assuming that would require a significant amount of invasive work??

    Combi boiler losing pressure

Genius. Will do that now and keep you updated. Thanks for your time and patience, by the way. It’s really appreciated.

    Combi boiler losing pressure

Hahaha! I just assumed it was the leftovers of old pipe work. It isn’t currently dripping or leaking…however it does look fairly oxidised?

    Combi boiler losing pressure

There’s a boiler flue but no other obvious pipes…is there a cause for concern or am I just being dim and missing it?!

    Combi boiler losing pressure

I’ve attached everything I could. The current boiler and its pressure, the piping under the boiler and the only pipe I could find outside the house. It feeds directly into the kitchen and (I’m assuming) the boiler. I couldn’t find any obvious signs of a leak! Apologies for the state of our front...
