Replaced seals on uPVC window and tightened all screws but still not sealing

Thanks both - we’ve decided just to make the investment in new windows. Will do the worst offending windows now then the others over the next couple of years

Replaced seals on uPVC window and tightened all screws but still not sealing

There are 2 hinges positioned at either side. The gap is in the middle to bottom half at each side. I took a straight edge and it does appear to be bowed slightly.

Replaced seals on uPVC window and tightened all screws but still not sealing

Windows are 30 years old and they need replaced but was hoping to drag them out for longer. The windows closed really tight but some parts still have gaps when doing the card test. My only thinking is that the frames are warped and beyond repair?

Air vent valve added to gravity fed heating system - not sure why

So you’re saying this has been set up wrong?

Air vent valve added to gravity fed heating system - not sure why

Oh and to add it’s an oil fired heating system not gas.

Air vent valve added to gravity fed heating system - not sure why

In the last picture the cold feed is the 15mm pipe to the left of the new air valve - it connects to the coil feed at the bottom of the cylinder. The air valve and zone valve is connected to the coil feed coming out in the middle.

Air vent valve added to gravity fed heating system - not sure why

Ok will get today - when you say cold feed do you mean the feed to the CH system via the F&E tank?

Air vent valve added to gravity fed heating system - not sure why

I had a power flush and some zones added to my gravity fed CH system - I later discovered they had disconnected the vent pipe and added the below valve, any idea why? I’ve had to bleed the radiators a few times since they left. I also need to replace a faulty TRV and was planning to just bung...

    Broken window ledge - DIYable?

Access is a pain but can be done with ladders - I’m not sure if it’s worth replacing the whole sill with concrete or uPVC or repairing it - if it was repairable what would be the best way? You can’t see it in the photo but where it broke off there is a piece of rusted rebar.

Replace MDPE to copper reducer or leave?

I’m re-routing my mains input and stop cock soon and want to know should I renew the existing fitting that’s connecting the MDPE to the copper pipe or replace that as well? It’s not leaking and is about 30 years old. Not sure it’s worth it, and I should just cut the copper pipe and solder in a...

    Moving stopcock

Hi, I've attached a diagram of my current set up along with photos. I want to move my stop cock to under my utility room sink - it currently sits behind my washing machine which is difficult for me to move and impossible for my wife, should we need to isolate the supply in an emergency. It...

    Gaps above windows

Expanding foam? And what should I seal it with?

    Gaps above windows

Discovered upon inspecting the windows outside that 2 small windows have big gaps at the top. I was thinking of just using some sealant/adhesive to attach a piece of quadrant to but not sure if this would look naff?

Best way to secure sink top

This bathroom sink top sits on a cupboard but it’s not secure against the tiles and wall. What would you suggest securing it? I was going to shove a load of Tec 7 in behind it and apply a bead along by the tiles - not sure if this would work?

    Are these door hinges adjustable?

    I’m guessing not…

    Another post about attic condensation

Wow 2008 - you’ve been on here a while. I see too much insulation isn’t on the list so at least I won’t have to do the horrible job of removing it.

    Another post about attic condensation

I upgraded our insulation in our roof from 100mm to about 400mm - I have these plastic things at the eaves that I assumed were to allow airflow and put the insulation up to these. After the first cold spell I noticed it was soaking up there - condensation everywhere so I pulled back the...
