Can a new oil CH system still be a good option with the way regulations are moving / have moved ?

I’d be ok with the older stuff like our existing Camray 5, not sure about the new condensing boilers though. Plus even if there aren’t so many strict regulations around boiler servicing like with gas, wouldn’t I need to be registered to be home insurance compliant.

Can a new oil CH system still be a good option with the way regulations are moving / have moved ?

Hi all, I've lived with the same oil boiler central heating system for many years and found that to be very reliable if serviced well and regularly, so for me it's "the devil you know" option. The guy who services it is reliable and knows what he's about and could support a system going into...

Plan B - Getting access and a dropped curb at an A road junction

Thanks all, this thread was just looking at a listed property with no vehicle access, and very cheap, basically a sanity check to see if there was some possible way for access from the road to be granted. My guess was there wasn't likely to be, and your replies and further googling around...

Plan B - Getting access and a dropped curb at an A road junction

Am having first looks at a Plan B property (see my other post about access rights for another property). It's a rural refurb, cosmetic condition looks ok (roof, walls, floors ok, no obvious damp) has two obvious issues: it only has pedestrian access from the road, and it's listed (grade 2) but...

Access Rights / Easements & Deeds

Thanks Rusty, get the point. Our official legal advice is that as the easement as worded would be created as part of the transfer when the properties are separated, is quite weak in law, and would be open to challenge (by us, if we were up for that). The proposed easement is also clearly time...

Access Rights / Easements & Deeds

Thanks again to all for your advice. IF we proceed, even with the "easement" in place, I think being in possession of the property gives you cheap, practical day-to-day control of the situation, putting the onus on the "other" party/ies to take very costly legal action. Most people, like us...

Access Rights / Easements & Deeds

Thanks again both. We're trying to find something that works for both us and the vendor, and I'm now thinking an easement that would be limited to 5 years after completion of our property purchase (instead of 3 months after the "other" property being purchased), and having that term included in...

Access Rights / Easements & Deeds

Thanks Rusty, I agree that creating a dedicated access really should be done by the vendor before sale, but that option's not on on the table. We can walk away, but partly due to slow and sh*tty legal advice performance earlier in the sale, we've already been drawn in, and are heavily...

Access Rights / Easements & Deeds

Thanks both - I also figured a license would be better, and wouldn't appear on Land Registry, but that option isn't a goer for the vendors. I've also been told that if the arrangement lasted more another 19 years after our completion date then the "Other" property might claim access rights due...

Access Rights / Easements & Deeds

Apologies if this is not in the best bit of the forum. We're in the final throws of purchasing a semi-d property. Both halves of the semi are owned by the same people. The half we want to buy was rented out for years but it's now empty. The "Other" half is rented to an old person who's been...

Changing the foul water route with an extension project

Cheers for that. The STP is only a couple of years old (I've seen the installation paperwork, done by a reputable local specialist), apparently fully compliant with environmental standards and discharges nice clean water via a shared outflow pipe to somewhere about half a mile away. I'm slightly...

Changing the foul water route with an extension project

I'm on the verge of getting a house (or my other half is anyhow). It's a small semi, but with enough space for a decent sized extension. The plan is to extend to the side, the existing foul waste routes from the rear around the side and off at an angle to a newish sewage treatment plant(STP)...
