Sorry to dig up an old thread. I'm wondering if you fixed the wallplate directly to the dash or hacked it off in the end. I'm building a lean to garage and have a similar decision to make. I hacked some off already for a wall starter for the blockwork and it didn't come away easily or cleanly.
