Suddenly "kidnapping" becomes something someone is not supposed to do, LOL. I guess it all depends on who is doing it.

South African Knowledge Needed on Footware

These are my granddad's puny legs in the early 80's in Bramley, Johannesburg. We used to wear this kind of a slippers in the 70's and 80's, they were quite popular in SA. They are not shoellies or vellies. I'm trying to identify them, perhaps someone is still manufacturing them. Google or its AI...

    Dry Ridge System or Mortar?

Thanks, my local merchant JT Dove seems to stock Manthorpe, they can provide the suitable ridge tiles and end caps too. £45 per 6m kit. Looking forward to a warm April day and a few well-earned ales afterwards.

    How Good are New Toilets?

If you have to flush more than once then there's not enough curry in your diet.

    Dry Ridge System or Mortar?

So I currently have the Marley non-half round modern ridge, the one with the angular shape. Marley's kit for this is very expensive so I'll used half round tiles instead so I can buy a more affordable kit. Should I worry about the size of the ridge tiles or are these systems really "universal"...

    Dry Ridge System or Mortar?

Thanks, so it seems, I found a video which clearly shows this. I think I'll go with this dry system, requires a bit more praparation time with battens and brackets but the actual laying the tiles seems much faster.

    Dry Ridge System or Mortar?

My 1971 Marley Modern ridge tiles and mortar have come to the end of their lives and in the Spring I'll either be bedding new ridge tiles with mortar or doing it the dry way. I'll decide when I see what's under the ridge tiles, what kind of a batten system I have under there. I watched a bunch...

    Roof leak question

Could be driving horisontal rain, that's what I thought in my case, everything looked cushty so I placed a plastic flabby board to the underlay to direct the water down and above the underlay. 3 years later I found out a ridge tile was cracked under the moss. The whole time water had been...

    Concrete tiles on roof crooked?

Seems to be Marley Modern ie The King of the Roof Tiles, so a bit of wonkiness can be tolerated if the aesthetics don't bother you.

    Kentucky Bluegrass lawn seed Frustration

I found this page on the home page: "Discuss It Yourself! Are you working on your own DIY project? Share experiences, tips, ideas, and frustrations with others, discuss projects and ask questions" I would place my posts under the share experiences category.

Central heating back on, is this an early start to winter?

I switch CH on when the condensation in the windows cause the first black mold spots in a certain ceiling corner.

It's still obvious which one is Kentucky Bluegrass.

    Kentucky Bluegrass lawn seed Frustration

In early May I seeded a small lawn, full restoration, scraped off the top soil and then some, new top soil with some compost. I used bog standard seed mix mostly ryegrass for half the lawn, then for the other half KBG Evora variety (tiny seed in size). What can I say, I got hooked on KBG lawn...

The collapse of the UK and left-wing socialism

The problem with both fascists and communists is that they are very difficult to vote out because when the polling looks bad for them the elections become rigged or even cancelled. Should Reform look very strong come 2029 there will be an event of some kind and election will be cancelled. Or...

New thermostat learning shenanigans? Honeywell T3R

Thank you! That must be it, it does do short burst, which I mentioned in my other post when installed the new stat as I was a bit baffled because with the old stat it wasn't doing that. When it gets to 20deg it seems to ease off a bit, perhaps it doing 18.5 then. I agree with your Auntie, it's...

New thermostat learning shenanigans? Honeywell T3R

Same thing this morning, temp set to 20, stays at 17.5. Pump it up to 21 and it actually goes to 21. So why does it stay at 17.5, what's the difference? And why 17.5? Boiler is set to 70 and the stat is in the livingroom. Thermo dynamics and physics is hard!

New thermostat learning shenanigans? Honeywell T3R

About two months ago I replaced old hysteresis type thermostat with T3R, which obviously is not smart but as I understand it, it can take two weeks or so for the stat to settle down (it learns something?) I've programmed certain temps for certain times of day, evening one is an interesting one...

    Frost Stat Queries

I recently rewired my frost and pipe stats in my cold garage, and tested them by switching off the boiler so the pipes in the garage got cold, then turned the frost stat dial and had the pipe stat set to 20-30degrees IIRC. There was a long lag, pipes got really toasty before the pipe stat...

WB max CH output and anti cycling settings

I've changed the settings, anti fast cycle from 5 to 10 mins (6 times an hour) and anti fast cycle flow temp from -6 to -10. Interestingly, Honeywell T3R thermostat parameters has the following: cycle rate : 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 12 default is set to 6 Minimum on time: 1,2,3,4,5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30...

WB max CH output and anti cycling settings

Now that I have the stats and wiring sorted, I started learning a bit about max output and cycling. I have a WB Greenstar 30i erp bought in 2017. Last winter I had flow temp at 72, I have tried 60 to 65 but 11 smallish radiators in a 3 bed bungalow don't get to temp during the 3-4 hour heating...
