It's all a bit academic now. I took one of the thermostats off just now, and the internal plastic threading turned to dust. I will just shut the lockshield for now, ( spare room luckily), and replace them all later. Thanks anyway. Chris

Hi. My house has an older type of TRVs and some of them have failed and no longer shut off the heat. The thermostats have a male thread and the valve has a collar with the female thread. Essentially the opposite of any TRV I have ever seen. The brand name on them is Tyco. I would appreciate it...
