    Cold New Bay Window

Thanks. Would you advise putting silicone around the edge of the trim. It’s hammered into place with a rubber mallet concocted in pretty tight but it could be that some cold air may be getting through at the edges. I’ve added a picture of the bay pole with the trim attached.

    Cold New Bay Window

There is a radiator directly under the bay window. The fireplace is on the adjacent wall but is blocked up apart from a small vent at the bottom. I will try and do a smoke test to see if there is any noticeable leaks. Should there be expanding foam in the bay supports under the plastic trim?

    Cold New Bay Window

Hi, I have recently had new windows installed including two five panel bay windows. I watched the fitters install them and note that they used expanding foam in the exterior joints and in particular the bay joins. However I am noticing that my living room seems colder than it used to be and...

Two radiators on one 10mm pipe

My apologise, very busy with various house renovation projects plus my day job (long shift work). Other thread regarding my chimney has been suitably acknowledged.

Two radiators on one 10mm pipe

Yes my bad 25kw combi boiler. So I take it 7 radiators would be fine on this one. Does that take into consideration size of radiators. With having 7 could I add two more and it still be ok. I’m was hoping to add a very small single panel radiator on the landing 414 x 600 and perhaps add an...

It’s a 2.5kw combi boiler in an upstairs cupboard powering seven radiators (one is a towel rail).

Two radiators on one 10mm pipe

Definitely no issues. All running fine and heat up nicely. Everything I’ve read elsewhere says that it shouldn’t work but it does. The rest of my house is 8 and 10mm copper and working fine. When I’m replacing radiators is it ok to keep it at 10mm plastic as I find that so much easier to...

Two radiators on one 10mm pipe

How do I check if it’s running at a high speed? Is that bad and will it cause issues. I suspect it’s been running the same way for well over ten years.

Two radiators on one 10mm pipe

I’ve posted a few times on here about plumbing radiators using plastic push fit etc. My house is a 1930’s semi the central heating is all 8mm and 10mm copper microbore fed from manifolds off 22mm feed and returns. What I found when I lifted the floorboards in the hallway has confused me...

    Blocking up two fireplaces.

I have a 1930’s semi which I am currently renovating. There are two fireplaces, one in the living room and one in the dining room. Both these rooms share the same chimney which comes down through the main bedroom and then branches off at celling height in the living room into the two separate...

    Copper or plastic radiator tail.

I’m using 10mm plastic speed fit. I know it’s probably not the best and 15mm is the optimum. But my house is old and it’s all in 8mm microbore and working fine without issues so I figured to just keep everything as it is instead of ripping up all the floorboards to re do the house in 15mm. If...

    Copper or plastic radiator tail.

Hi, Quick question. I’m plumbing radiators in using plastic pipe. Should I use copper tails into the radiator valves or use plastic pipe into the valves instead. Whatever is visible above floorboard level will be covered by chrome pipe covers so visually it is irrelevant. I’m just wondering...

Plastic pipe advice 10mm or 15mm

Hi, I own a typical 1930’s semi which I purchased last year and I’m slowly renovating it room by room. It’s only a small two bedroom one bathroom property with two radiators and a heated towel rail upstairs and three radiators downstairs. The combo boiler is in the main bedroom cupboard and...
