Thanks Deviant. Maybe it is just me and that I am completely inept. Tried what you suggested but still can't get it on. Always lef with about 6 inches which won't go on. As I turn the pulley it does not make any progress. Any suggestions?

Still with the indesit WD12 S. Have discovered that the drive belt has come off -now struggling to get it back on. Is it just a cae of brute force?

Does anybody know how you remove this to inspect it? It is supposed to collect coins and stuff -it is easy enough to release the handle in the middle of the mechanism but there appears to be no way of removing the unit to actually have a look at the chamber and remove anything that has collected...

Washing machine fills and goes through the cycle and the programme dial clicks through each step ( the machine is making all the right noises during this) but the drum does not move at all. Any help greatly appreciated.
