Hi, Once again thanks for taking the time to reply.... it's sorted! :-) marcr - I noticed the shortness of the screws as well and have used longer ones. TicklyT - Has your plumber assembled all the bits in the correct order? Apparently you get the prize. One of the lads from work popped...

    Wobbling Stand Alone Tap

First off I’d like to thank everyone for taking the time to help. Secondly let me respond to a few of the questions/comments so far. “In the first pic you can see the offcut of wood. He stitch drilled it and whacked it out is my guess”. – Correct. “good old fashioned butchery is what it is...

    Wobbling Stand Alone Tap

It may not look like it but the base is made up in different parts. The base plate is threaded and screws down to the floorboards around the outside edge. the section under the boards with the flexi pipes fits to the plate using two allen screws (one of which can be seen next to the tower on...

    Wobbling Stand Alone Tap

The plumber has been today and after much head scratching he fitted what I thought was a straight forward stand alone tap for the bath. However the tap sways all over the place and spins around when trying to operate the tap... He said it's just one of those things and all these stand alone...

Replacing my old NTE5 (6 into 4 doesn't go ...or does it?)

Hello, Finally got around to replacing my mystery box which you lot correctly identified as an NTE5. However....I pulled them apart and there's not as many terminals for my extensions in the new box as there was in the old. I've posted a pic to show what I mean. I was hoping they'd be...

Painting wood panels...it's not going well !

Hi My hallway, stairs and landing are covered in wood panelling. It had been painted a really dark colour so I decided to strip the lot. I've spent weeks and weeks burning off the old paint... I've spent weeks and weeks sanding every surface... I knotted the knots, and filled the gaps...

Lol :D You know what lads, your right... While I was taking that last picture I thought "I'm just gonna yark the thing out and if it fits, it fits - If it doesn't, it doesn't!" Thanks for all the help... I'll pop out and get one of those allen keys tomorrow. Cheers, Brian.

    TRV's wont fit

Thanks everyone so far :) Hope this helps. Perhaps it's a lack of faith on my part, but it looks to me like the new tail won't screw into the hole I'll be left with when I remove the old one. What do you recon? Cheers, Brian.

    TRV's wont fit

Yes, that was my initial thought. The Tails are even supplied in the boxes with the TRVs. However the hole the Tail goes into is still bigger than the 15mm Tail so I can't use them. It might be hard to make out, but you can see the size/diameter of the existing Tail and where it fits onto...

    TRV's wont fit

I've bought a load of TRVs for my radiators (bl**dy fuel bills are killing me) The pipes are 15mm but the connection on the radiator is 1/2". Not a problem with the normal screw down Valves but the TRVs are 15mm all over. Looked at screwfix but they don't seem to make them the way I need...

Thanks Matthew, Although mine hasn't got the socket on the front it's a pretty close match. I'll go for one of those. Incidentally this is what mine looked like before i peeled it open. I assume it does the same job. Cheers. [/img]
