    I think I will take statics advice and break the concerete around the source of the crack (the drain) and see if it has leaked. it seems like the most plausible cause. thanks again. I still think my idea was cool!

    I was going to check that but it seemed like a difficult job, smashing the concerete around the drain. You have to admit the plate idea was quite a good one that i dreamed up!

    Hi, my machine is being a pain. It spins for a while then stops for a bit and continues through this cycle for ages. I doesn't change the rate at which it does this either, no matter which programme you select. Only at the end does it spin like mad, but the clothes still come out quite wet...
