    balancing radiators

Will try it - ta. Was new but feeds for two old rads available in ceiling so he uncapped and joined there. But four cap ends only one visibly coming off flow to my eyes so return was a 2 in 3 bet I reckon!

    balancing radiators

I just did mine to try to get a cold one working. With all the other rads shut off (locksh closed fully) the cold one stayed cold and the boiler stopped immediately on fire up. Just wondered if Mr Bodger who fitted the rad for me has connected both sides to flow!? Trv side is hot and top of rad...

    Damp Plaster Repair

It's a single skin inside wall. I've no idea what's under the asphalt floor; well, it's concrete under there now but I suspect it was joists and floorboards in the past. I read somewhere else on here maybe I should use a 3:1 render to prevent moisture coming through to the plaster (even from...

    Damp Plaster Repair

Picture speaks 1000 words ... Wet plaster up to abour 18". Injected DPC is above the floor because it is an asphalt floor which was presumably installed before the injection. The asphalt stops about 1/2" short of the wall. The plaster previously went right down to the lowest brick and...

Accenta 8 Mini - PIRs stopped working - HELP!

As well as the obvious fuses which I checked, there is one helpfully labelled Speaker on the other side of the PCB which I hadn't bothered to test. That (somehow!) was the one that had blown. Replaced; all good. Thanks a lot! Builder in the clear ... :-)

Accenta 8 Mini - PIRs stopped working - HELP!

Hoping someone can help with this ... Had some building work done and they removed one PIR. Now none of the PIRs have their red LED on anymore, let alone work. I measured the supply voltage to the PIRs and it is only 200mV - I think it should be 12V. In the main panel the DC supply is...

    Power / Current Rating

I just bought an LCD TV from Tesco which says (in 2 places) it is 70W. By my sums this should draw 0.3A at 230V (or 0.6A at 110V) therefore a 1A fuse is fine. However, right next to the power rating it says "1.5A" and the supplied plug has a 5A fuse in it. Am I being stupid!??

    Security Floodlights

Hmm, but having said all that there's nowhere convenient to get into the ring. There's an existing FCU for the boiler (which bizzarely has *two* cables coming in from a junction box somewhere ...) but I read that you can't spur off a spur so that's no help to me. Problems, problems.

    Security Floodlights

13A? Even when both activated they can only draw 5A, can't they? The cables supplying the lights are currently 1mm2 T&E but run straight out of the hole in the wall and into the back of the light - should I replace with arctic?

    Security Floodlights

Hi - hope someone can help with this. I was hoping to add a light to the downstairs circuit. On investigation I notice that this circuit has 9 normal bulbs (say 900W), and the mains halogen lighting in the kitchen (8 x 50W). That's 1300W total on my 6A MCB - no problem. However, there...
