So I think the following should be ok: So a the SWA Running off of a 20A RCBO from the main CU gives me 4.8kW which is way more than enough. A 60m length of 6mm SWA at 4.8kW results in a voltage drop of 8.5v which is 3.7%. Does this sound ok or have I missed something ?

Is a 10v drop acceptable/safe? How should the circuit be protected?

Thanks chaps. So it seems the behaviour is normal! For now I'm going to clean the carb and give it a complete service. New oil, plug, filter and gaskets. If this doesn't work I'll get a new carb. Any suggestions on where to get one from please?

Once a week one of the bulbs in my lounge blows whe I turn them on which always causes the RCD in my main CU to trip. The bulbs are always within wattage rating (40), the lights are wall mounted up lighters. The circuit has not been modified although the lights were changed about 5 years ago...

Thanks Eric. I think I'll go for 6mm with a small cu in the shed. MCB in the house and two passive (lights and fridge in future) and rcd for tools. I'll also look into the lights you suggest.

I reckon the shed wont ever consume more than 20v at any one time. Will 6mm be ok at 25 m? What rcd setup will I need?
