    Too Much Loft Insulation?

OK I have done, to be honest the photo overexaggerates the damp a little, its only the centre beam coming towards the camera which looks overly damp now, fortunately no woodlice that I can see but a few cobwebs. Photo here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/escapee/loft.JPG

    Too Much Loft Insulation?

Thank you all for the feedback, I haven't been in the loft since it was reinsulated but I would imagine that they would have placed the insulation too close to the eaves causing a ventilation problem. I will have to investigate further and rectify if necessary. One final query if I may, is...

    Too Much Loft Insulation?

Hi All Is there such a thing as too much loft insulation, about 18 months ago we had a grant for cavity wall and loft insulation. The blokes that carried out the work placed the new loft insulation over the old and it now sits several inches over the rafters making it impossible to gain...

    Help with Archetraves please

Thanks for that Justin, that is the approach I would have preferred but seeing as the overhang was 1cm in places, the back of the archetrave would have only been 0.5cm as the depth of the archetrave I selected is only 1.5cm

    Combi Boiler Sounds

Thanks Agile Could this cause a problem over time if not rectified? The sound emitted is not noisy just strange. As far as I am aware the installer removed everything except the header tanks in the loft, which as you say were not practical as they were much larger than the loft hatch and...

    Combi Boiler Sounds

Hi All We have recently had installed a Glowworm Flexicom 30 CXi, this is the first combi boiler we have ever had installed and all appears to be well but there is a strange sound I would like to query. When we turn the cold water tap on (anywhere in the house), you can hear the boiler...

    Internal door frame replacement

Hi All I am considering replacing an internal door frame in my living room as it is quite old now and looking rather distressed. Is it a job I could attempt on my own or would it be better to get a joiner in to do the work. Would it just be a case of removing the architraves and prising...
