yes it would be best to. prime any areas of bare wood and ensure that the other areas with paint on are sanded slightly to give a good key. Then undercoat the whole lot. Give it a rub down VERY gently after the u/coat with either 'between' coats sandpaper or something like grade 180/220 and...
